COATING AGENT FOR OIL SEAL
20220251420 · 2022-08-11 · ·

A coating agent for oil seal comprising 10 to 90 parts by weight of a filler and 10 to 40 parts by weight of a wax, based on 100 parts by weight of isocyanate group-containing 1,2-polybutadiene, and being prepared as an organic solvent solution, wherein as the filler, silicone resin particles having a particle size of 0.5 to 10 μm and fluororesin particles having a particle size of 0.1 to 2 μm are each used at a ratio of 20 to 80 wt. % of the total filler amount. The coating agent for oil seal can exhibit excellent seal performance inherent in oil seal while maintaining excellent dispersibility of the coating agent, and can further achieve low torque characteristics.

Low friction coatings

A low friction, wear-resistant surface operable at high temperatures and high loads with a low coefficient of friction including boron nitride and graphene-oxide on steel or nanodiamonds and graphene on aluminum. The low friction, wear-resistant surface remains with a coefficient of friction in the superlubric regime at temperatures in between about 200° C. and 970° C.

METHODS FOR FABRICATING TRANSPARENT ICEPHOBIC COATINGS, AND TRANSPARENT ICEPHOBIC COATINGS OBTAINED THEREFROM

Some variations provide a method of forming a transparent icephobic coating, comprising: obtaining a hardenable precursor comprising a first component and a plurality of inclusions containing a second component, wherein one of the first component or the second component is a low-surface-energy polymer, and the other is a hygroscopic material; applying mechanical shear and/or sonication to the hardenable precursor; disposing the hardenable precursor onto a substrate; and curing the hardenable precursor to form a transparent icephobic coating. The coating contains a hardened continuous matrix containing regions of the first component separated from regions of the second component on an average length scale of phase inhomogeneity from 10 nanometers to 10 microns, such as less than 1 micron, or less than 100 nanometers. The transparent icephobic coating may be characterized by a light transmittance of at least 50% at wavelengths from 400 nm to 800 nm, through a 100-micron coating.

Broadband and omnidirectional polymer antireflection coatings

A method for generating antireflective coatings for polymeric substrates using a deposition process and/or a dissolving process can provide a coating onto the outer surface of the substrate. Some embodiments can include a GLAD generated fluoropolymer coating or a co-evaporated fluoropolymer coating on a substrate that may achieve ultralow refractive index as well as improved adhesion and durability properties on polymeric substrates. In some embodiments, the deposition process is performed such that a fluoropolymer can be evaporated to form chain fragments of the fluoropolymer. The chain fragments diffused into the substrate can subsequently re-polymerize, interlocking with the polymer chains of the substrate. In some embodiments, the co-evaporation process can form a nanoporous polymer chain scaffold of the fluoropolymer, from which a sacrificial material can be dissolved out. The formed coating can be a multilayer or continuously-graded antireflective coating that has strong adhesion with the substrate.
