Device and Method for Assisting Breathing in a Subject
A distension/compression device for assisting breathing in a subject is disclosed. In one embodiment, a first tube includes a flexible and elastic material that forms a first tube lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the first tube. Longitudinal expansion of the first tube is restricted less than radial expansion of the first tube. A connection element including a first air supply port is in fluid communication with an open proximal end of the first tube lumen and attached to a proximal end of the first tube. A method for assisting breathing of a patient and a method for assisting the clearing of secretions is also included.
Devices for gastrointestinal stimulation and uses thereof
A gastrointestinal stimulation devices including a random stimulation delivery mechanism(s), configured to provide stimuli to a bodily tissue in a vicinity of the stimulation capsule, the provided random stimuli being characterized by a stimulation parameter, and a control circuitry in communication with said physical stimulation delivery mechanism, and configured to set and alter the stimulation parameter non-systematically, thereby altering the characterization of the stimuli provided to the bodily tissue. The algorithm may be patient tailored, and may have a learning machinery which responds to data being received from the patient.
Walking assistance method and apparatuses
A walking assistance method may include measuring a current gait motion of a user, defining a state variable based on the current gait motion, setting a delay that is a feedback element for the state variable, and generating a torque profile based on the state variable and the delay.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING DAMPED ELECTROMAGNETICALLY ACTUATED PLANAR MOTION FOR AUDIO-FREQUENCY VIBRATIONS
A vibration module for applying vibrational tractions to a wearer's skin is presented. Use of the vibration module in headphones is illustrated for providing tactile sensations of low frequency for music, for massage, and for electrical recording and stimulation of the wearer. Damped, planar, electromagnetically-actuated vibration modules of the moving magnet type are presented in theory and reduced to practice, and shown to provide a substantially uniform frequency response over the range 40-200 Hz with a minimum of unwanted audio.
Synchronizing chest compression and ventilation in cardiac resuscitation
Apparatus for automatic delivery of chest compressions and ventilation to a patient. The apparatus includes a chest compressing device configured to deliver compression phases during which pressure is applied to compress the chest and decompression phases during which approximately zero pressure is applied to the chest a ventilator configured to deliver positive, negative, or approximately zero pressure to the airway; control circuitry and processor, wherein the circuitry and processor are configured to cause the chest compressing device to repeatedly deliver a set containing a plurality of systolic flow cycles, each systolic flow cycle including a systolic decompression phase and a systolic compression phase, and at least one diastolic flow cycle interspersed between sets of systolic flow cycles, each diastolic flow cycle including a diastolic decompression phase and a diastolic compression phase, wherein the diastolic decompression phase is substantially longer than the systolic decompression phase.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE
The present application relates to devices, systems and methods for auricular acupuncture. The devices suitably include an ear retention device that substantially contacts a patient's auricular surface, so as to allow sufficient energy from an optical or electric source to stimulate auricular acupuncture sites. The devices and systems are useful in various methods of treatment of patient conditions and presenting symptoms.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES FOR INCORPORATING VIBRATION THERAPY AND VIBRATION FEEDBACK INTO A BIOELECTRIC TEST PROBE
Systems, methods, and devices for taking bioelectric measurements of a test subject using an automated bioelectric measurement system. A bioelectric testing device may include a conductive tip that is disposed at a distal end of the bioelectric testing device, and a vibration motor for vibrating the conductive tip during bioelectric testing of a test subject. The bioelectric testing device may further include a motor that applies a motor output force to the conductive tip during bioelectric testing to maintain proper force between a test subject and the conductive tip during the bioelectric testing. The one or more vibration motors may vibrate to provide alerts about operation or operability of the bioelectric testing device to a technician or test subject, to improve conductance between the device and the test subject, or to decrease discomfort and pain for the test subject.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SYNCHRONIZING EXTERNAL COMPRESSION OF A LIMB FOR INCREASED BLOOD FLOW
Embodiments relate to devices, systems and methods of assisting blood flow return to the heart from a limb. The device comprising a wearable garment (115) and a compression apparatus (110) embedded in the garment (115) for applying an external compression according to a compression sequence to a muscle of a limb of a user based on real-time measurements regarding a cardiac cycle having a diastolic phase and systolic of the user and real-time measurements of muscle activity. The compression sequence is synchronized to comment when both the local blood flow at the limb is in the diastolic phase and the muscle is in a non-contracted state.
