Method of sorting small flows of mail
A method of sorting mailpieces by using a dynamic assignment process and an overbooking mechanism whereby an overbooked sorting destination (D) is substituted for a sorting destination that is already assigned to a certain sorting outlet (S) comprises the following steps: a) identifying from among said sorting outlets (S) a sorting outlet that has a filling level (N) greater than a first threshold (s1) and the longest idle time, and assigning the overbooked sorting destination to that sorting outlet; b) if all of the sorting outlets (S) have filling levels (N) less than said first threshold (s1), identifying from among the sorting outlets the sorting outlet that has the longest idle time, assigning that sorting outlet to said overbooked sorting destination, and indicating that said other sorting destination is a sorting destination to be amalgamated.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IN-LINE ADDRESS QUALITY AND MAIL PREPARATION ON AN INDICIA PRINTING SYSTEM
The present application generally relates to mail processing equipment and techniques. More specifically, the present application relates to a mail processing system and related method for transporting and imaging addressed mail pieces of a mailing to qualify the mailing for postage discounts. An address analysis component of the mail processing system compares the address included on a respective mail piece to postal authority standards for compliance with requirements for discounted postage based on pre-sort rules. A postage metering component prints the discounted postage indicia and a printing component prints delivery point barcodes.
Actuation of a conveying system
An apparatus receives data from at least one detection device which regularly detects single items on a sorting surface of a conveying system. Here, a separately actuatable drive element is assigned in each case to a plurality of partial surfaces of the sorting surface. The device regularly determines a region on the sorting surface taken up by the respective single item on the basis of the obtained data by means of triangulations for as long as the single item is situated on the sorting surface. The device determines control commands for actuating the drive elements, which are assigned to a partial surface and correspond to a specific region on the sorting surface taken up by the respective single item, on the basis of a destination at the sorting surface provided for the respective single item. Then, the device actuates the drive elements with the determined control commands.
SORTING FACILITY FOR ITEMS TO BE SORTED WITH DECENTRALIZED FUNCTIONAL UNITS FOR THE DETECTION OF FAULT STATES
A sorting facility for items to be sorted, such as postal items, parcels, packages, baggage, suitcases, etc., includes carrying elements, conveyor paths at which the carrying elements are transported to target positions, to empty the items from a carrying element into a target position, a facility controller controlling movement of the carrying elements along the conveyor paths and emptying at the target positions, and a decentralized functional unit receiving process information regarding the conveyor paths and/or the carrying elements and, by comparison with nominal process information, detecting deviation from the nominal process information and reporting it to the controller. The functional units, which monitor the facility or surroundings, have computer-aided intelligence detecting and reporting deviations to the controller. Faults and/or impending faults, which can only be detected with difficulty or not at all, even in sorting facilities, are detected reliably and be reported timely to the controller.
Relabeling system for unlabeled items and method
Systems, methods, and machine readable media are provided for relabeling items. A computing device is communicatively coupled to a scanning device, a printing device, and an inventory system. The computing device identifies at least one of the items as missing an expected label type, the expected label indicating a location where the item should be stocked. The system scans the item via the scanning device, queries the inventory system to determine a location for the item. The system prints, via the printing device, a label indicating a location where the item should be stocked in the retail facility, applies the label to the item and sorts the item, via the sorting apparatus, to transport the item to one of the outlets based on the location indicated on the label.
Three-dimensional sorting robot-based data processing method and three-dimensional sorting robot
A three-dimensional sorting robot-based data processing method and a three-dimensional sorting robot and system are provided. According to the method, a three-dimensional sorting robot is provided with a processor and a sorting assembly. The data processing method comprises: an obtaining step: obtaining the identity information of a target sorting tack in real time, the identity information comprising structure data of the sorting tack and/or position information of basket units in the rack; a binding step: binding the identity information of the target sorting rack with the information of a three-dimensional sorting robot, the binding relationship being associated with a target order executed by the three-dimensional sorting robot; and a sorting step: under a sorting task of the target order, sorting, by the sorting assembly according to the identity information of the rack by means of the processor, goods to be sorted.
Sequencing parcel sorter
Method of sorting articles to a plurality of delivery routes includes sequencing a plurality of delivery stops within each of a plurality of routes based on a predefined criterion, and, depositing articles associated with a first delivery stop of each route in a first sequence container. The method also includes transferring articles from the first sequence container to a respective route container of a plurality of route containers, each route container associated with a route, depositing articles associated with a second delivery stop of each route in a second sequence container, and, transferring articles from the second sequence container to the respective route container of the plurality of route containers. Transferring articles from the second sequence container commences after completion of transferring articles from the first sequence container.
Conveyor systems and methods for sorting merchandise using interchangeable and assignable sortation modules
There is provided a conveyor assembly for sorting merchandise items. In one form, the conveyor assembly includes: a merchandise identification module; sortation modules each comprising a multi-directional sorting portion with two sets of rollers, a first wing including a third set of rollers, a second wing including a fourth set of rollers, and a controller configured to receive an IP address; a first, disassembled state of the sortation modules; a second, assembled state of the sortation modules; a merchandise database; and a control circuit configured to receive identifying information about an unsorted merchandise item, assign a unique IP address to each sortation module corresponding to the position of the sortation module, determine a sortation destination for the unsorted merchandise item, determine the sortation module corresponding to the sortation destination; and instruct the controller of the corresponding sortation module to divert the unsorted merchandise item to the sortation destination.
Smart conveyor belt service
A smart conveyor belt web service is provided. A network device generates recipes for multiple orders. Each recipe provides sorting instructions for a conveyor system. The network device transfers an identifier for a first recipe to a queue of active recipes and sends the first recipe to a server device for the conveyor system. The network device receives a recipe-complete status message indicating completion of the first recipe. The network device deletes the indicator for the first recipe from the queue based on receiving the recipe-complete status message and transfers a second recipe to the queue of active recipes to initiate processing of another order.
