A device and method are provided for treating a patient with vibration and/or tactile and/or thermal stimuli. The device includes first and second stimulating units for generating first and second stimuli respectively. The stimuli are vibration and/or tactile and/or thermal stimuli, and each of the stimuli is repeated on average at a frequency of 1 to 60 Hz. The stimuli are generated partly at different times.
Equipment to elicit frissons or aesthetic chills, through the multisensorial and multimodal stimulation; with the objective of relieving chronic pains and the method to use it
Equipment for self-care of patients with chronic pain, through inducing, intensifying and maintaining their own frissons and where multisensory and multimodal stimuli are used to achieve it; musical, visual, aromatic and vibrotactile and cold are applied on the cutaneous surface of the spine. In addition, the method for using them through perceptual learning is presented. The equipment includes a computer and a computer system with a music and video player, lighting, presentation of aromas and a closed hydraulic circuit with a hydraulic actuator.
Systems, apparatus, and methods for documenting code blue scenarios
An apparatus may be configured for documenting a code blue scenario when adhered to the chest of a subject undergoing resuscitation by sensing and transmitting information associated with the code blue scenario. Such information may include one or more of vital signs of the subject during resuscitation, information associated with chest movements of the subject during resuscitation, and audio information from an environment of the subject during resuscitation. A computing platform that is separate and distinct from the apparatus may provide code blue documentation conveying information related to the vital signs of the subject and derived from the audio information from the environment of the subject during resuscitation.
Amplitude spectrum area considerations for an external medical monitoring and treatment device
A medical monitoring and treatment device that includes a therapy delivery interface, a plurality of therapy electrodes coupled to the therapy delivery interface, a plurality of electrocardiogram sensing electrodes to sense electrocardiogram signals of a patient, a sensor interface to receive the electrocardiogram signals and digitize the electrocardiogram signals, and at least one processor coupled to the sensor interface and the therapy delivery interface to analyze the digitized electrocardiogram signals, to detect a cardiac arrhythmia based on the digitized electrocardiogram signals, and to control the therapy delivery interface to apply electrical therapy to the patient based upon the detected cardiac arrhythmia. The at least one processor is further configured to analyze a frequency domain transform of the digitized electrocardiogram signals, to determine a metric indicative of a metabolic state of a heart of the patient, and to accelerate or delay application of the electrical therapy based upon the metric.
Apparatus for minimally-invasive prevention and treatment of hydrocephalus and method for use of same
An apparatus for minimally-invasive, including non-invasive, prevention and/or treatment of hydrocephalus and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the apparatus, a housing is sized for superjacent contact with a skull having a fontanel. Within the housing, a compartment includes a pressure applicator, such as a fluid-filled bladder, under the control of a pressure regulator. The pressure applicator is configured to selectively apply an external pressure to the fontanel. The compartment includes a pressure sensor configured to measure intracranial pulse pressure of the fontanel. Further, in one embodiment, the apparatus can cause pulse pressure modulation by adjusting the intracranial pulse pressure via the pressure applicator. This enables a non-invasive measurement of the pulse pressure and modulation thereof in infants, for example.
Devices, systems and methods for controlling a spring force exerted on a sensor for obtaining bio-conductance readings using a linear actuator
A probe device provides an enhanced bioelectric and spring-loaded sensing tip with an integrated force sensor. The probe device measures the bioelectric conductance value from a patient for therapeutic and/or diagnostic purpose using the spring-loaded sensing tip. In addition, the probe device measures the force applied by the spring-loaded sensing tip against the patient using the integrated force sensor. Using feedback from the force sensor and the bioconductive data of the patient, the force applied at the spring-loaded sensing tip may be adjusted to obtain improved results.
SYSTEMS, APPARATUS, AND METHODS FOR DOCUMENTING CODE BLUE SCENARIOS
An apparatus may be configured for providing feedback to caregivers during a code blue scenario when adhered to the chest of a subject undergoing resuscitation by sensing and transmitting information associated with the code blue scenario. Such information may include one or more of vital signs of the subject during resuscitation, information associated with chest movements of the subject during resuscitation, and audio information from an environment of the subject during resuscitation. One or more processors may generate real-time feedback for communication to the caregivers during the code blue scenario based on the sensed and transmitted information.

Systems and Methods to Increase Survival With Favorable Neurological Function After Cardiac Arrest
A system includes a guidance device that provides feedback to a user to compress a patient's chest at a rate of between about 90 and 110 compressions per minute and at a depth of between about 4.5 centimeters to about 6 centimeters. The system includes a pressure regulation system having a pressure-responsive valve that is configured to be coupled to a patient's airway. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed during successive chest compressions in order to permit removal at least about 200 ml from the lungs in order to lower intracranial pressure to improve survival with favorable neurological function. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed until the negative pressure within the patient's airway reaches about −7 cm H.sub.2O, at which time the pressure-responsive valve is configured to open to provide respiratory gases to flow to the lungs through the pressure-responsive valve.
