METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A SOLID ADMINISTRATION FORM AND SOLID ADMINISTRATION
20220105041 · 2022-04-07 · ·

For manufacturing a solid administration form comprising at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient, a flowable but setting composite material comprising the at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient is added together and set to generate the solid administration form. The flowable composite material is liquefied and delivered to a discharge unit. Small portions of liquefied composite material are intermittently discharged through an outlet into a setting unit. The flowable composite material comprises a polymer and at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient dispersed or dissolved within the polymer. The small portions are droplets and the solid administration form is generated by adding droplets that stick together before or during the setting of the liquefied composite material. An average diameter of the droplets can be less than 350 μm. There can be a void space between at least some small portions, resulting in a porous structure of the solid administration form.

Method and system for forming a dosage form within a packaging

A method and system of forming a pharmaceutical dosage form within a portion of a blister packaging. The method includes the steps of providing a blister packaging for the dosage form with depressions. A predetermined amount of a drug-containing powder material comprising drug-containing particles is deposited into a substantially uniform powder layer within the depressions. A binding liquid is then deposited in a pattern on the powder layer within the depressions, to bind the particles of the powder layer and form an incremental wetted layer. Excess solvent in the binding material can be removed to form an incremental bound layer. These steps are repeated in sequence at least one or more times to form the pharmaceutical dosage form within the blister packaging.

BINDERS AND METHODS OF BINDER JETTING INCLUDING BRANCHED POLYMER BINDERS AND ARTICLES MADE THEREFROM

Binders and methods of binder jetting are provided based on the use of branched polymer binders. The applicants have found that, even more so than the molecular weight, the ability to achieve higher maximum printable concentrations leads to higher densities and improved structural properties of the manufactured articles. The methods can be used for a variety of articles from metal parts to structural ceramics, to tablets and other oral dosage forms. The branched chain polymers can include a short-chain branched polymer; a long-chained branched polymer; a hyper-branched polymer, a cyclic polymer; a comb-type polymer; a 3-arm star type polymer, a 4-arm star type polymer, a dendritic polymer, and a combination thereof. The branched-chain polymer can include various polymers such as polyvinylpyrrolidone, poly(vinyl alcohol), or poly(acrylic acid).

A multiple pill cutting device has a pivoting housing structure holding a blade holding assembly. The pivoting housing structure has a top housing pivotably connected at one end to a bottom housing. The bottom housing has a plurality of pill holding openings arranged in one or more rows. The one or more rows of pill holding openings have a slotted channel extending along a length of the bottom housing through and bisecting each pill holding opening. The blade holding assembly has one or more extending cutting blades. One blade is configured to align with each slotted channel when the top housing pivots closing onto the bottom housing, this moves the one or more cutting blades of the blade holding assembly to enter the slotted channels and cut pills held in the pill holding openings.

System and Method of Administering a Freezable Cough Drop to a User
20210308045 · 2021-10-07 ·

A system and method of administering a freezable cough drop to a user. The system includes a quantity of medicated solution and a freezer. The medicated solution is an aqueous solution with medicinal and soothing properties and is portioned into a plurality of dosages. The method begins with the plurality of dosages being positioned within the freezer. At least one arbitrary dosage is removed from the freezer. Moreover, the arbitrary dosage is any one of the plurality of dosages. The arbitrary dosage is placed within a mouth of the user. The arbitrary dosage is dispensed from the mouth into a sore throat of the user by gradually dissolving the arbitrary dosage. The system further includes a blister pack with a plurality of blister compartments that houses the plurality of dosages. An arbitrary dosage is ejected out of the corresponding compartment before being placed within the mouth of the user.
