ROLLING METHOD WITH A STEP FOR ADJUSTING THE INTERSPACE BETWEEN THE LATERAL BACKUP ROLL AND THE SUPPORT ROLL
Disclosed is a rolling method for rolling a strip including: rolling the strip by a pair of working rolls; transmitting a rolling force to the working rolls by a pair of support rolls; holding each of the working rolls by a pair of side support rollers; supporting each side support roller by two rows formed by rollers; supporting each row formed by the rollers, by a bearing support carrying rollers, the bearing support mounted pivotally on an articulation axis. The dimensions of a first interspace between the side support roller and the support roll and a second interspace between the strip and the assembly consisting of side support roller and bearing support vary in the course of the rolling. The method includes adjusting the dimension separating the axis of the support roll and the axis of the side support roller defining the first interspace.

A rolling mill (1) which is suitable for performing hot stalling rolling includes: a housing (2); a first roller (9) mountable to the housing (2); a second roller (10) mountable to the housing (2), wherein the position of the second roller (10) relative to the housing (2) is adjustable, thereby adjusting the width of a roll gap (17) between the first roller (9) and the second roller (10), and wherein the roll gap (17) is configured to deform a workpiece (18) when the workpiece (18) is passed therethrough. The rolling mill provides the advantage of optimizing the rolling process.

A rolling mill (1) which is suitable for performing hot stalling rolling includes: a housing (2); a first roller (9) mountable to the housing (2); a second roller (10) mountable to the housing (2), wherein the position of the second roller (10) relative to the housing (2) is adjustable, thereby adjusting the width of a roll gap (17) between the first roller (9) and the second roller (10), and wherein the roll gap (17) is configured to deform a workpiece (18) when the workpiece (18) is passed therethrough. The rolling mill provides the advantage of optimizing the rolling process.
ROLL FORMING MACHINE
Changing of a horizontal roll in a horizontal roll stand involving readjustment of an amount of pressing is to be done readily and promptly. In order to achieve this, a horizontal roll stand 10 with a pair of built-in upper and lower horizontal rolls 11 is configured to retreat toward one side across a forming line. A fixed stand 40 stands upright on a counter-retreating side of the forming line. An overhang part 42 of the fixed stand 40 jutting out over the forming line is provided with a pressure device 43 that applies a pressing force to the horizontal rolls 11. The horizontal roll stand 10 includes a horizontal roll housing 12 with an opened top, receives the pressing force from the pressure device 43 via the opened top, and retreats to the outside of the forming line while the pressure device 43 is left on the forming line. The overhang part 42 of the fixed stand 40 is engaged with the horizontal roll housing 12 of the horizontal roll stand 10 to support the horizontal roll housing 12 in the forming line.

Device for adjusting an edging roll of an edging stand
The invention relates to a device 1 for positioning an edging roll 10 of an edging stand, comprising an edging frame 12 to which at least one balancing cylinder 14 is attached, a balancing crossbeam 16 with a drive side 18 positioned opposite of the edging frame 12, and a working side 19 positioned opposite of the drive side 18, wherein a bearing device 20 for the edging roll 10 can be attached, in particular in an interlocking manner, to the balancing crossbeam 16 on the working side 19 thereof and at least one linkage 24 is provided on the drive side 18 thereof, by which linkage the balancing cylinder 14 is in an operative connection with the balancing crossbeam 16, and at least one positioning cylinder 26 attached to the edging frame 12 can be brought into an operative connection with the bearing device (20) in the direction of a rolled material in order to position the edging roll 10 against the rolled material, wherein the compressive force generated by the positioning cylinder 26 acts on the bearing device 20 along an operational axis 28, which either intersects with the at least one linkage 24 by which the balancing cylinder 14 is operatively connected with the balancing crossbeam 16 or runs directly alongside this linkage 24.
Multistage rolling mill
A multistage rolling mill 100 includes support bearings 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h arranged on the entry side and/or the exit side of work rolls 2a and 2b, and supporting the work rolls 2a and 2b on an work side and a drive side. The offset positions in a pass direction of the pair of work rolls 2a and 2b for rolling a strip 1 are changed by moving in and out the support bearings 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h to the entry side or the exit side with respect to the pass direction. A multistage rolling mill capable of rolling a hard material efficiently and suitable for obtaining a strip of high product quality is thereby provided.

A continuous-cast slab is provided where central porosity is reduced by surly crushing the slab. A method and apparatus of manufacturing the slab is also provided. The continuous-cast slab having horizontally symmetrical granular equiaxed crystals at least in the center in the thickness direction includes a first reduction dent and a second reduction dent that further dents from the bottom surface of the first reduction dent and is narrower than the first reduction dent at least on one long side surface. Such a configuration can makes it possible to achieve the continuous-cast slab of no more than 2.510.sup.4 cm.sup.3/g in a maximum porosity volume while segregation is reduced.
