A crushing assembly (102) is coupled between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The crushing assembly can include a first crushing plate (601) pivotally coupled about a first pivot (406) defining a first axis (111) and a second crushing plate (602) pivotally coupled about a second pivot (507) defining a second axis (112). A lever (110) is coupled to the first crushing plate, and is selectively movable between a first position (600) and a second position (700) to rotate the first crushing plate in a first radial direction (703). A cog insert (604), coupled between the first crushing plate and the second crushing plate, causes the second crushing plate to rotate in a second radial direction (704), opposite the first radial direction.

A device for splitting a pill comprising a pill splitter, including a base slidingly engaged with a jaw. The base and the jaw each include a cutting edge. The jaw slidingly engages to the base to permit the jaw and base to slide and allow the cutting edge of the jaw and the base to split a pill. A lid pivotally engages to the pill splitter to retain the pill within an interior space while two or more flexible guides positioned on a pair of central portions retain the pill in a suitable position to split the pill via the cutting edge. The suitable position of the guides is achieved via a plurality of levers to retain the pill in a central region of the pill splitter.

CAPSULE SHREDDING DEVICE

A capsule shredding device is provided, which includes first and second housing sections. The first housing section has a chamber slightly larger than the capsule located in one end of the housing section so that when the capsule is seated in the chamber it cannot freely rotate in the chamber. A vial is releasably coupled to other end of the first housing section. One or more passageways extend from the bottom of the chamber toward the other end of the second housing section. The second housing section has an internal chamber with a spike extending into the chamber integrally formed on the interior upper section of the housing section. When the two housing sections are threaded together such that are drawn towards each other, the spike pierces the capsule, and upon further rotation the spike shreds the capsule thereby releasing the powder contained therein which flows through the one or more passageways into interior of the vial. Gaskets between the first and second housing sections and between the second housing section and the vial prevent powder or liquid in the vial escaping.
