AUTOMATIC PACKAGER FOR PHARMACEUTICALS AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
Automatic packager for pharmaceuticals and method of operating the same. The method includes receiving a prescription to be filled by a pharmacy management system and identifying one or more bulk containers that contain medications to fill the prescription. The method also includes counting, using a pre-counter, medications from the one or more bulk containers to fill the prescription and depositing the counted medications in one or more cartridges. The method also includes placing the one or more cartridges including the counted medications at an automatic packager and dispensing the medications in the one or more cartridges. The method also includes packaging medications dispensed from the one or more cartridges into packages and verifying whether the medications are correctly packaged.

Pill sorting devices are described herein that include a cavity formed from a bottom, a front, a first side wall, and a second side wall, a channel formed at the intersection of the first side wall and the second side wall, and a delivery channel within the front and first side wall or the within the front and the second side wall, wherein the delivery channel is offset from the channel. The pill sorting, counting, and dispensing device can be useful for people with arthritis or poor sight, or could be used commercially in pharmacies or industrially. Methods of making and using the pill sorting, counting, and dispensing devices are also described.
Apparatus, System and Method for Facilitating Tracking of Consumable Pharmaceutical Articles
Embodiments of an apparatus, system and method for facilitating the tracking of consumable pharmaceutical articles are disclosed. A marking apparatus is configured to apply unique indelible identifiers to pharmaceutical articles at the point-of-sale. The indelible identifiers on the articles are visually or electronically readable to allow each respective article to be traced with respect to its manufacturer, prescribing physician, patient to whom it was prescribed, dispensing location, expiration date, dosage, or some combination thereof. An associated system and method may involve the provision of a remote database element configured to be in network communication between the marking apparatus, manufacturer, distributor, prescriber, dispensing location, scanning tool, or some combination thereof. The indelible identifier may initially be generated by the apparatus and then obtained and recorded by the remote database element. Alternative, the indelible identifier may initially be generated and recorded by the remote database element, then provided to the marking apparatus.

A solution is proposed for dispensing substances to be taken by a user. A corresponding dispensing device comprises a memory for storing an indication of a taking plan of a plurality of doses of one or more substances, the taking plan comprising an indication of a taking time of each dose, a plurality of compartments each one for containing one of the doses, a signaling unit for providing a taking notice of each dose in response to the corresponding taking time, a pushbutton for releasing the dose corresponding to each taking notice from the corresponding compartment in response to a releasing command; the dispensing device comprises a plate having a collecting surface in a central zone thereof, the compartments being arranged in a peripheral zone of the plate and the pushbutton facing towards the central zone of the plate for collecting the doses released thereby onto the collecting surface. An assistance system is also proposed for facilitating the taking of substances by a user, the system comprising this dispensing device and a processing device of a person in charge of the dispenser device adapted to communicate with each other.
Emergency Medication Assembly
A emergency medication assembly includes a container for containing medication for treating a heart attack. The container is suspended from a user's neck to ensure the medication is constantly available to the user. A necklace is included and the container is suspended from the necklace. A communication unit is coupled to the container and the communication unit is turned on when the container is opened. The communication unit is in communication with an extrinsic communication network. Moreover, the communication unit broadcasts an alert signal over the extrinsic communication network when the container is opened. In this way the communication unit can alert emergency responders that the user is experiencing a heart attack.
CONTAINER
A container for holding personal items is disclosed. The container includes a body with one or more dividers that at least in part define one or more compartments for holding personal items. The container includes one or more covers attached to the container body to cover and secure the personal items in the compartments. Each cover may form at least a top of a compartment. The container is less than about 8 mm in height.
SYSTEM AND METHOD AOR COMPOUNDING MEDICATION
A medication compounding system is described that is capable of receiving one or more medications and diluents and that includes an array of moveable transfer cartridges to access a medication container and to transfer medication. The transferred medication may be joined with a diluent to form a compounded medication. The resulting compounded medication may then be directed to a filling port where a compounded medication container may be coupled. A second medication container may align with a second transfer cartridge to transfer a second medication. Because the device may comprise one or more medications and diluents, a series of compounded medications may be created using an individual transfer cartridge for each medication.
