One aspect of the present disclosure is related to a medication dispensing device. The medication dispensing device includes a housing and a tray. The tray carries a plurality of pods with interiors that can contain pills and is moveable between an open position where the pods are exposed to a user and a closed position where the pods are not exposed to the user. At least one of the pods is at least partially made of an elastomeric material that can deflect to open a passage. When the tray is in the open position, the pods are able to be individually opened to either receive pills or to dispense pills. The medication dispensing device also includes a controller that is configured to monitor the insertion of pills into the pods and the dispensing of pills out of the pods.

The system can also include a global positioning system, an accelerometer, or both. A pill case compartment is configured to hold a medication. The pill case has a sensor or sensor array configured to detect the amount of medication in the pill case. A pill case processor is configured to generate a data signal pertaining to the amount of medication in the pill case. The system can generate medication reminders, for example, pertaining to refilling a subscription or taking medication with food. The pill case can include or connect to a phone case for a smartphone, or can be integrated into a smartwatch.

A method and system provide for automated counting of prescription product and enables virtual verification of the dispensed prescription product. The method and system include counting a quantity of pills of a prescription product on a first portion of a tray, retaining the quantity of pills after the counting in a second portion of the tray, receiving at least the second portion of the tray into an imaging device, and capturing, with a first camera, an image of the quantity of pills in the second portion of the tray.

A method and system provide for automated counting of prescription product and enables virtual verification of the dispensed prescription product. The method and system include counting a quantity of pills of a prescription product on a first portion of a tray, retaining the quantity of pills after the counting in a second portion of the tray, receiving at least the second portion of the tray into an imaging device, and capturing, with a first camera, an image of the quantity of pills in the second portion of the tray.

Tablet dispensers and methods for use are provided herein. In some embodiments, a tablet dispenser has a dosage actuator that permits a user to select a desired dosage to dispense from the dispenser. Changing the selected dosage may change a volume of a collection space of the tablet dispenser. The tablet dispenser may be configured to attach to a tablet container. With the tablet dispenser attached to the tablet container, a user may tilt the tablet container, causing tablets from the tablet container to fall into the collection space. The tablets from the collection space may then be dispensed out of the tablet dispenser for administration to a patient.

A pharmaceutical counter for dispensing precise quantities of pharmaceuticals is disclosed. The pharmaceutical counter includes a holder defining a first interior sized to hold a first plurality of pharmaceuticals. A hopper defines a second interior sized to hold a second plurality of pharmaceuticals. The pharmaceutical counter also includes a counting mechanism that counts precise quantities of pharmaceuticals. The counting mechanism is arranged to receive pharmaceuticals of the first plurality of pharmaceuticals held by the holder and to receive pharmaceuticals of the second plurality of pharmaceuticals held by the hopper.

The tablet dispenser includes: an accommodation part provided with a plurality of cartridge accommodation compartments into which tablet cartridge assemblies configured to accommodate tablets therein and discharge the tablets and each provided with a discharge unit and a cartridge identification unit are inserted and mounted; a plurality of mounting detection units located in the respective cartridge accommodation compartments, and configured to detect the cartridge identification units of the tablet cartridge assemblies; a plurality of discharge driving units located in the respective cartridge accommodation compartments, and configured to drive the discharge units so that the tablets are discharged from the tablet cartridge assemblies; and a control unit connected to the mounting detection units and the discharge driving units, and configured to obtain information through the mounting detection units and control the discharge driving units.
