Extrusion press systems and methods
One or more hollow billets are loaded onto an elongate mandrel bar for extrusion. The billets are transported along the mandrel bar to a rotating die. The billets are transported through fluid clamps, which engage the mandrel bar and provide cooling fluid to the mandrel bar tip, and through mandrel grips, which engage the mandrel bar and prevent the mandrel bar from rotating. One or more press-rams advance the billets through a centering insert and into the rotating die. A quench assembly is provided at an extrusion end of the extrusion press to quench the extruded material. A programmable logic controller may be provided to control, at least in part, operations of the extrusion press system.
EXTRUSION SYSTEM INCLUDING A PRESS AND AN EXTRUSION DIE WITH TWO MUTUALLY-PERPENDICULAR DIRECTIONS OF MOVEMENT
An extrusion system including a press with a chassis, a slider mounted to be mobile vertically on the chassis and an actuating arrangement that moves the slider, a hollow container receiving a billet and having at one end an extrusion die and at the other end a piston mobile in translation horizontally in the container, and a movement transformation system arranged between the slider and the piston to transform the vertical movement in translation of the slider into horizontal movement in translation of the piston. With an arrangement of this kind, it is possible to use a press of higher power.

Materials produced during this process can be fabricated directly and/or in forms such as, e.g., wires, rods, tubes, sheets, plate and/or channels, etc.

Hydraulic extrusion press and method for operating a hydraulic extrusion press
A hydraulic extrusion press includes at least one ram, the ram being driven by hydraulic oil from a main line and a hydraulic control pressure being used to control the extrusion press. To minimize non-productive periods, the control pressure is also supplied to the main line. The main line and the pressure control system are connected with one another on the pressure side.

DEVICE FOR PRODUCING METAL SHEETS OR HOLLOW CHAMBER PLATES FROM EXTRUDED PROFILES
An apparatus for producing metal sheets from extruded profiles of small thickness or of hollow chamber plates of light metal, preferably of magnesium or magnesium alloys, comprises an extruder for producing an extruded profile which is open along a surface line. A separating device is provided for cutting the extruded profile to length corresponding to the length of the metal sheet to be produced, or the hollow chamber plate to be produced. A bending unit is used for deforming the extruded profile into a U-shaped profile. An expansion unit is provided for expanding the U-shaped profile into a flat metal sheet or a hollow chamber plate. A stacking unit is also provided. At least one expansion unit is arranged parallel to the extrusion line and thus the extrusion and expanding processes are decoupled from one another.

The present invention relates to an extrusion press (10, 20, 30) with a press cylinder (111), the press cylinder (111) being driven with an electro-hydrostatic control system (104) for a power transmission and being connected to a separate drive (120, 400) for rapid traverse, with a container (115), wherein the container (115) is connected to a hydraulic cylinder (117) for a power transmission and to a further separate drive (119, 300) for rapid traverse, with a hydraulic cylinder (101) with a locking device (103) for driving a shearing tool (102), wherein the hydraulic cylinder (101) is connected to the electro-hydrostatic control system (104), and wherein the press cylinder (111) in the power transmission and the hydraulic cylinder (101) for driving a shearing tool (102) are controlled alternately via the common electro-hydrostatic control system (104).
