Functionally graded coatings and claddings
A shear assisted extrusion process for producing cladded materials wherein a cladding material and a material to be cladded are placed in sequence with the cladded material positioned to contact a rotating scroll face first and the material to be cladded second. The two materials are fed through a shear assisted extrusion device at a preselected feed rate and impacted by a rotating scroll face to generate a cladded extrusion product. This process allows for increased through wall strength and decreases the brittleness in formed structures as compared to the prior art.
Bridge Tool for Producing Extruded Profiled Elements of Varying Cross-Section
The invention relates to a bridge tool for a device for directly extruding hollow profiled elements of variable wall thickness, comprising a die (6) and at least one mandrel element (5) having a first end facing the die opening and an opposite second end, the outer profile contour of a hollow profiled element being defined by the geometry of the die opening and the inner cross-section of a hollow profiled element being defined by the at least one mandrel element (5), characterized in that the at least one mandrel element (5) has at least one cut-out, in which an inner sliding mandrel is arranged, said inner sliding mandrel being mounted for movement in the axial direction, the inner sliding mandrel having different cross-sections in the first end region of the inner sliding mandrel facing the first end of the mandrel element.
Rotational extrusion molding die and slender metal workpiece made with same
A rotational extrusion molding die and a slender metal workpiece made with same are introduced. The rotational extrusion molding die includes a female mold device, a male mold device, and a rotation driving device. The female mold device is symmetric about an axis to define a cavity corresponding in shape to the slender metal workpiece. The male mold device is movable controllably along the axis relative to the female mold device, allowing the metal blank to pass through the cavity and thereby turn into the slender metal workpiece. The rotation driving device drives the female mold device to rotate about the axis relative to the male mold device. The slender metal workpiece thus manufactured has continuous metal flow lines which extend continually along the axis and along an arc defined by the axis, thereby improving the slender metal workpiece in mechanical properties, mechanical strength, and damping capacity.
LONG CARTRIDGE CASE
A method and tooling for forming a cartridge case blank comprising backward extruding a tube from a length of wire stock in multiple backward extrusion steps with progressive tooling to obtain an intermediate blank that can be finish drawn without a preceding annealing step and which if otherwise not subjected to multiple backward extrusion steps, would require annealing prior to finish drawing to avoid tearing.
EXTRUSION PRESS SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems, devices, and methods are described for extruding materials. In certain embodiments, one or more hollow billets are loaded onto an elongate mandrel bar and transported along the mandrel bar to a rotating die. The billets are transported through fluid clamps, which engage the mandrel bar and provide cooling fluid to the mandrel bar tip, and through mandrel grips, which engage the mandrel bar and prevent the mandrel bar from rotating. One or more press-rams advance the billets through a centering insert and into the rotating die. A quench assembly is provided at an extrusion end of the extrusion press to quench the extruded material. A programmable logic controller may be provided to control, at least in part, operations of the extrusion press system.

EXTRUDER AND TUBE EXTRUDER OR METAL EXTRUSION PRESS
An extruder and tube extruder or metal extrusion press that has a press frame, which is composed of a cylinder bar and a counter bar connected to said cylinder bar, in which a movable block receiver holder that bears a block receiver and a movable plunger traverse are provided. A main cylinder or pressing cylinder is arranged in the cylinder bar. The cylinder receiving in its cylinder housing a pressing piston provided with a pressing plunger, and in which an equalization container is arranged in the cylinder housing. The container supplying hydraulic oil to the pressing piston by a slide plate provided on a central linkage. A filling valve that has a lid-like valve cone is formed in the transition from the equalization container to the cylinder housing.
