SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ARC AND NODE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE
A metal extrusion and nodes based structure is provided. The structure comprises one or more arc members connected by one or more node members, wherein the arc comprises (i) a wing feature which is configured to mate with one or more non-structural components, (ii) an internal passage feature which is configured to be inserted into a connecting feature of the corresponding node member, and (iii) one or more keying features formed from a mating interface with the corresponding node member.
Ring gears and methods of making thereof
There is provided a method of forming a ring gear, including providing a tube having an inner surface comprising gear teeth, the tube being a hollow tube formed by extrusion. The method also includes inserting a shaping tool into the tube, the shaping tool having tool teeth to mate with the gear teeth, and extended and retracted configurations. The shaping tool may be inserted into the tube in its retracted configuration. Moreover, the method includes extending the shaping tool into its extended configuration to cause the tool teeth to mate with the gear teeth and to exert a radially outward force on the tube. Furthermore, the method includes fixing a shape of an outer perimeter of the tube, retracting the shaping tool into its retracted configuration to reduce the radially outward force exerted by the shaping tool on the tube, and removing the shaping tool from the tube.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A MOTOR VEHICLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT FROM AN EXTRUDED MULTICHAMBER HOLLOW PROFILE
The invention concerns a method for manufacturing a motor vehicle structural component (1) from an extruded multichamber hollow profile, with the following steps: a) provision of an extruded profile (2) with at least two precursor hollow chambers (8, 9) which are separated from one another by an inner wall (7), wherein at least one outer wall (3, 4) of at least one precursor hollow chamber (8, 9), in cross-section perpendicularly to the longitudinal extent of the extruded profile (2), has a region (16) with non-linear course, b) forming of the extruded profile (2) in at least one of its end regions into the motor vehicle structural component (1), wherein at least the region (16) with non-linear course of the at least one outer wall (3, 4) of the at least one precursor hollow chamber (8, 9), with non-linear course in cross-section, is at least partially straightened, with a change in cross-section of the respective precursor hollow chamber (8, 9) into the cross-section of the corresponding hollow chamber (14, 15) of the motor vehicle structural component (1). (FIG. 1)
SEAT FRAME MANUFACTURING METHOD
A seat frame manufacturing method including: performing extrusion molding of a metal material to form a workpiece material, which has a closed section shape or a solid section shape in which a plate piece continuous in an extrusion direction protrudes in a protruding direction from a portion thereof; and performing press working, the press working including bending a part of the plate piece of the workpiece material in an out-of-plane direction of the plate piece, which is different from the protruding direction of the plate piece, to obtain a finished product.
Apparatus and method for manufacturing a seamless pipe
Provided is an apparatus of manufacturing a seamless pipe. The apparatus includes a container receiving a work therein, a stem pressing one end of the work within the container, a die installed in a direction opposite to the stem, and having an extrusion hole comprised of a plurality of ports, a rotation member installed on a front end of the die, having a stirring tip inserted into a joint surface formed by abutting a plurality of metal pieces to each other on one surface, and rotating to perform a friction stir bonding in a state in which the one surface contacts the joint surface, and a correction mold including a metal pipe discharging path receiving a metal pipe manufactured by the friction stir bonding and discharging the metal pipe to an outside.
EXTRUSION APPARATUS
An extrusion apparatus includes an extruder, a run-out table that supports an extruded material that has been extruded from the extruder, a feed roller and a pulling roller that are provided at a given interval so as to be able to come in rolling contact with the extruded material that is situated on the run-out table, and a cooling section that cools the extruded material between the feed roller and the pulling roller, wherein the feed roller and the pulling roller apply a tensile force to the extruded material while the extruded material advances from the feed roller to the pulling roller.
EXTRUDED SUSPENSION LINKAGE
A suspension linkage for a motor vehicle includes an extruded body having a first wall and a longitudinal length. An extruded feature is disposed on the first wall of the extruded body and extends along the longitudinal length. The extruded feature has a cross-sectional profile configured to control a flexural rigidity of the suspension linkage.
Production method of bathroom hardware shells
A method that includes heating a bar having an outer diameter and a length to a first temperature for a first time; extruding the heated bar to form a hollow blank having a wall thickness; forming a semi-finished blank by closing one end; bending the semi-finished blank to have an angle between first and second parts of the semi-finished blank; placing the bent semi-finished blank in a die, which is heated to a second temperature; forming a shell by injecting a gas onto or into the bent semi-finished blank after closing the die through a gas inlet in the die at a pressure for a second time, which causes the bent semi-finished blank to fit a cavity of the bathroom hardware shell shaping die; removing the shell from the die and forming a water faucet hole therein; and plating an outer surface of the shell with a coating.
Extrusion press systems and methods
One or more hollow billets are loaded onto an elongate mandrel bar for extrusion. The billets are transported along the mandrel bar to a rotating die. The billets are transported through fluid clamps, which engage the mandrel bar and provide cooling fluid to the mandrel bar tip, and through mandrel grips, which engage the mandrel bar and prevent the mandrel bar from rotating. One or more press-rams advance the billets through a centering insert and into the rotating die. A quench assembly is provided at an extrusion end of the extrusion press to quench the extruded material. A programmable logic controller may be provided to control, at least in part, operations of the extrusion press system.
