Tab with reinforced rivet hole, and tooling and associated method for providing same
A tab is provided, which includes a body having first and second opposing ends, a nose portion disposed at or about the first end of the body, a lift portion disposed at or about the second end of the body of the tab, and a rivet receiving portion disposed proximate the nose portion. The rivet receiving portion includes a generally planar portion, a rivet hole having a perimeter, and an upturned portion extending upwardly from the generally planar portion about the perimeter of the rivet hole. The upturned portion reinforces the rivet hole and has an arcuate cross section profile. An integral rivet extends through the rivet hole and is staked to affix the tab to a can end. The upturned portion is devoid of any corners or edges both before and after the integral rivet is staked.
Header plate for a heat exchanger
A header plate includes slots to receive heat exchange tubes of a heat exchanger. Each slot includes a lip extending in a direction of the tubes. Each slot has straight sides and corners. At least two tabs extend from each lip. One tab is on one side of each lip, and another tab is on an opposite side of each lip. Tabs are absent from the corners of the lip. Each tab is turned out from the lip so that the tabs on the lip act as a lead in for a tube entering the slot. Each slot has two long sides opposite one another. At least one tab is on each long side of the lip.
Method and device for producing a press-quenched part
A method and device for producing a press-quenched part having a rim hole with a collar formed at the periphery of the rim hole includes inserting a temperature-controlled die into the rim hole of the part. The temperature of the temperature-controlled die is controlled such that the temperature of the part in a region of the collar is held above the martensite start temperature of the material from which the part is made. While the temperature of the collar is being held above the martensite start temperature, the remainder of the part is press quenched.

[Solving Means] The present invention is a press-molded product (100) formed by bending a blank (B) to divide the blank into a first plank piece (10) and a second plank piece (20) with a bending portion interposed therebetween and making the first plank piece and the second plank piece come into contact with each other through the bending. The first plank piece and the second plank piece include punching portions (11, 21) formed by punching the blank, and a first rising portion (12) and a second rising portion (22) formed by raising the rims of the punching portions. There is provided a positioning portion (40) that positions the first plank piece and the second plank piece by engaging the first rising portion of the first plank piece with the second rising portion of the second plank piece.
Method and device for achieving long collar lengths
Quality collars with long collar lengths, homogeneous wall thickness distributions, and high loadability even in high-strength materials such as steel can be achieved on workpieces according to the disclosed methods and devices. One example method involves drawing the workpiece such that the drawn workpiece has a flange region and a drawn region adjoining the flange region, wherein the drawn region has a wall region and a drawn base adjoining the wall region, with the wall region forming a part of the collar; punching the drawn base located in the drawn region of the workpiece such that a drawn-base subregion adjoins the wall region; expanding the drawn-base subregion such that the expanded drawn-base subregion forms a part of the collar; and at least partially ironing and/or expanding the collar.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HOT PRESSED PRODUCT
A method for manufacturing a hot pressed product by heating a sheet material and quenching the sheet material while molding the sheet material includes a hole forming step of forming a pilot hole in the sheet material; a heating step of heating the sheet material in which the pilot hole is formed; and a molding step of forming a burred portion at the pilot hole by using a burring punch included in a die set while molding the sheet material in the die set. The pilot hole has an opening shape in which convex portions and concave portions are alternately arranged. A diameter of a circumscribed circle that is in contact with the convex portions is greater than a punch diameter of the burring punch. A diameter of an inscribed circle that is in contact with the concave portions is less than the punch diameter of the burring punch.
VEHICLE CONTROL ARM FOR A WHEEL SUSPENSION
The disclosure relates to a method for producing a vehicle control arm for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle. The vehicle control arm is configured from at least one sheet metal part in such a way that, in a region of an insulating bushing to be inserted, two sheet metal portions are disposed at a distance from, and opposite, one another in such a way that a gap is formed between them. In this region, two bearing eyes are formed coaxially with one another in the two sheet metal portions. A reinforcing ring is inserted between the two sheet metal portions, being in coaxial alignment with the two bearing eyes. A respective die is pressed into each bearing eye. Edges of the bearing eyes are bent, and the reinforcing ring is retained by the edges of the bearing eyes.
