Container, and Selectively Formed Shell, and Tooling and Associated Method for Providing Same
A shell, a container employing the shell, and tooling and associated methods for forming the shell are provided. The shell includes a center panel, a circumferential chuck wall, an annular countersink between the center panel and the circumferential chuck wall, and a curl extending radially outwardly from the chuck wall. The material of at least one predetermined portion of the shell is selectively stretched relative to at least one other portion of the shell, thereby providing a corresponding thinned portion.

Press forming tool and press forming method
A press forming tool is configured to form a press forming part including: a top portion; a side wall portion having a recessed portion in which a bottom edge is recessed toward the top portion; and a flange portion formed outward on a bottom edge of the side wall portion, the recessed portion including a first curved portion continuous with the bottom edge being a portion having a large wall depth, an inclined side portion continuous with the first curved portion, a second curved portion continuous with the inclined side portion, and a recessed side portion having a small wall depth, arranged in order from the bottom edge being a portion having a large wall depth, the flange portion being formed such that the flange portion formed in the first curved portion becomes a shrink flange while the flange portion formed in the second curved portion becomes a stretch flange.

Vehicle door reinforcing beam
A structural door beam for vehicles, and a method for making the same, is provided. The structural door beam has an elongate multiple channel structure defined by a central web of given thickness and known material composition, and includes end mounting-flanges integrally formed therewith. The elongate multiple channel structure comprises two outer channels separated one from the other in a lateral direction, and a third channel disposed between the two outer channels. The third channel defines a trough within the medial region between the two outer channels. A first one of the two outer channels is drawn to a peak of known height and the trough is drawn to a known depth, such that the trough to peak distance exceeds a maximum distance that is achievable in a single cold forming operation for the given thickness and material composition of the web.

Can end produced from downgauged blank
A can end for a two-piece beverage container has a curl positioned about a longitudinal axis which defines an outer perimeter of the can end. A circumferential wall angles downwardly and radially inwardly relative to a radially inner portion of the curl. A strengthening member extends radially inwardly relative to the circumferential wall. A center panel extends radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis towards the strengthening member and has a diameter greater than 87.7% of an overall diameter of the can end. A frangible score and a hinge portion define an openable tear panel in the center panel. A stay-on tab is attached to the center panel and has a nose portion overlying the tear panel opposite a lift end of the tab.
