Can end produced from downgauged blank
A can end for a two-piece beverage container has a curl positioned about a longitudinal axis which defines an outer perimeter of the can end. A circumferential wall angles downwardly and radially inwardly relative to a radially inner portion of the curl. A strengthening member extends radially inwardly relative to the circumferential wall. A center panel extends radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis towards the strengthening member and has a diameter greater than 87.7% of an overall diameter of the can end. A frangible score and a hinge portion define an openable tear panel in the center panel. A stay-on tab is attached to the center panel and has a nose portion overlying the tear panel opposite a lift end of the tab.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING A CAN SHELL USING A DRAW-STRETCH PROCESS
A shell includes a body with a center panel, a countersink, a chuck wall, and a draw-stretched outer portion. The countersink has a base thickness. The outer portion has a reduced thickness. The shell countersink has substantially the same thickness as the sheet material prior to forming. In this configuration, the shell maintains the buckle resistance of a standard shell but uses less material.
Pressed component manufacturing method, press, and press line
Disclosed is a method to manufacture a pressed component from an intermediate stock, which includes two bent portions with a spacing thereof narrower than a width of a top plate of the pressed component, by employing a press including a die having a die pad and a punch having an inner pad, the method including: gripping a portion between the bent portions with the inner pad and the die pad in a state in which the inner pad projects from the punch and the die pad projects from the die; moving the die toward the punch side to form vertical walls of the pressed component with the die and the punch; and integrating the die and the die pad and then moving the die, the die pad and the inner pad toward the punch side to form the top plate.

Method of manufacturing plate-like molded body having a plurality of thickened portions, and plate-like molded body having a plurality of thickened portions
[Object] To provide a method of manufacturing a plate-like molded body having a thickened portion in a region spaced apart from an edge in a substantially flat plate-like portion. [Solution] Provided is a method of manufacturing a plate-like molded body having a plurality of thickened portions, including at least a drawing step of obtaining by a drawing process a cylindrical drawn molded body including a flat plate portion and a cylindrical drawn portion that swells in such a manner as to project from the flat plate portion and has a circular top portion. The drawing step includes a first step of pressing a region spaced apart from an edge in a plate-like member having a flat plate shape, with a first mold and a second mold, to form a concave curved portion in the plate-like member, and a second step of holding an outer circumferential section of the plate-like member between a third mold and a fourth hold while a region containing the concave curved portion in the plate-like member is held between the first mold and the second mold, and moving the first mold and the second mold relative to the third mold and the fourth mold to cause the region containing the concave curved portion to project with respect to the outer circumferential section and to obtain the cylindrical drawn molded body.

Flange projection control system and method
Embodiments provide a tooling station for forming containers that includes a blank and draw punch configured to blank off a portion of stock from a stock element and draw the portion of stock to form a cup. The blank and draw punch includes a blank and draw punch curved edge disposed between a blank and draw punch inner circumferential wall and a blank and draw punch proximal surface. The blank and draw punch curved edge has a radius of curvature that varies along its circumference. The tooling station also includes a draw-redraw die configured to redraw the cup to form a can having a flange. The draw redraw die includes a draw-redraw die curved edge disposed between a draw-redraw die inner circumferential wall and a draw-redraw die proximal surface. The draw-redraw die curved edge has a radius of curvature that varies along its circumference.
PROCESSING METHOD FOR METAL PLATE"
A processing method for a metal plate includes a curve surface forming recess forming step, a protruding step, and, a shaping and dividing step. In the curve surface forming recess forming step, a recess is formed in the metal plate, the recess having an outer periphery forming a curve surface, a side portion formed in a frustum, and a bottom portion being round. In the protruding step, a portion of the recess from the bottom portion to the side portion is protruded toward an inside of the recess, and the side portion of the recess is formed to be close to a center of the recess. In the shaping and dividing step, the protruded portion and the outer periphery of the recess are shaped so that the recess is divided into a group of the plural recess portions adjacent to each other.
BENDING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME
A first-face forming portion of a workpiece and a second-face forming portion spaced apart from it by the length of an intermediate portion are clamped with a first-face forming die and a second-face forming die, respectively. The first-face forming die is moved either upward or downward and the second-face forming die is moved in a direction toward the first-face forming die, and the second-face forming die is pressed against the first-face forming die to shape the upright wall portion.
