TUBIE VENT GASTROSTOMY VENTING UNIT
20210077357 · 2021-03-18 ·

A gastrostomy or nasogastric tube venting unit has a containment vessel for measuring fluids expelled with gastric gas before, during, after, or independent from feeding. The venting unit is particularly well-suited for pediatric or extremely weak patients who have difficulty producing sufficient pressure to expel gas through a fluid-filled feeding tube, including babies weighing less than 2000 grams. The venting unit includes a handle for suspending from an IV pole, a car or infant seat, stroller, a coat hook, or other support structures that might be used for travel. The containment vessel has a splash guard in the form of mesh material or screen covering or molded within the upper opening of the vessel, and can be capped temporarily for ease of transportation. The cap can be reopened when the patient is secured in a car seat or other means for travel, so that venting can resume. The splash-guard screen prevents spilling, spraying or splashing of liquids when gastric contents are explosively expelled along with gas.

The system includes at least one of a locking tab and a stop flange configured to not mate with matching connectors not configured to satisfy the enteral feeding standards and not specifically configured to mate with the fluid delivery device.

Fluid Heating Device
20210077356 · 2021-03-18 ·

A fluid heating device for on demand heating of fluids for feeding a child includes a pipe that is coupled to and extends from a control module, which comprises a power module. A first and a second tube are coupled to and extend from a first and a second end of the pipe, respectively. A terminus of the first tube is positionable in a reservoir that contains a fluid. A nipple that is coupled to the second tube distal from the pipe is configured to be positioned in a mouth of a child, positioning the child to suck on the nipple to draw the fluid from the reservoir through the first tube into the pipe. A heating element in the pipe heats the fluid as it passes through the pipe. The fluid then passes through the second tube and a hole in the nipple into the mouth of the child.

High flow enternal connector system

A two-part enteral connector system having first and second parts. The first part has a housing with an internal fluid flow passageway and the housing further includes external thread elements and a tip projection portion. The second part also has a housing with an internal fluid flow passageway and mating internal thread elements and resilient internal sealing surface area such that the first part is threadably engageable with the second part in an ISO 80369-3 thread compatible connection to form a liquid tight sealable engagement between the two parts such that the joined fluid flow passageways provide a high flow fluid flow passageway in excess of the 2.95 mm flow path of the existing ISO 80369-3 enteral small-bore connector flow path.

Apparatus, System, and Method for Detecting the Distance Between Sensors Using Ultrasound
20210038185 · 2021-02-11 ·

An apparatus, system and method for detecting the distance between a plurality of position detectors using ultrasound is provided. The position detection system includes a processor and a memory device. The position detection system further includes a first position detector device configured to detect the position of a medical device within a patient, the first position detector device comprising a first transceiver, further wherein the first position detector device is operatively coupled to the processor; and a second position detector device configured to detect the position of a medical device within a patient, the second position detector device comprising a second transceiver, further wherein the second position detector device is operatively coupled to the processor. The memory device stores instructions which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: instruct the first position detector device to transmit a signal through the first transceiver; receive a signal from the second position detector device relating to the distance between the first position detector device and the second position detector device; and calculate the distance between the first position detector device and the second position detector device. Each transceiver is configured to transmit and receive one or more sound signals in the audio or ultrasonic range.

MEDICAL TUBE

Aspects of the present invention relate to a medical tube for delivering nutrients or medication to a patient. The tube comprises a flexible tubular body for conveying the nutrients or medication to the patient and a small-bore connector for connecting the medical tube to a syringe or pump. The small-bore connector is secured to the tubular body by an overmoulded component that encapsulates a portion of the tubular body and a portion of the connector thereby securing the connector relative to the tubular body of the medical tube.

Medical Device Position Notification System
20210030480 · 2021-02-04 ·

A medical device position notification system including a medical device and at least one sensor associated with the medical device, a processor, and a display device. The medical device is configured to be inserted into an orifice of the patient. The sensor measures information related to the position of the medical device in the patient's body, and communicates the information with the processor in real-time. The display device is coupled to the processor and is configured to display a tracing path of the position of the medical device in real-time. The display device is further configured to display a notification of the position of the medical device within the patient's body, such as a notification alert that the medical device has deviated from a predetermined path.

The negative pressure device provides information related to the position of the medical device in the patient's body and communicates the information in real-time. The negative pressure device may also be coupled to a sensor, processor, and display device and indicates the position of the medical device in the patient's body in real-time.

System and Method for Acoustic Sensing to Verify Proper Nasogastric Tube Placement
20210030629 · 2021-02-04 ·

A tubing assembly for use with electronic catheter guidance systems is provided and includes a catheter and an acoustic sensor. The catheter extends in a longitudinal direction and has a proximal end and a distal end that define a lumen therebetween. Further, the catheter is configured for placement within a patient's digestive tract. The acoustic sensor can be located within the lumen of the catheter or in a sampling chamber connected to the catheter. The acoustic sensor can communicate with a processor to deliver sound data to a display device. The appearance of random spikes on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the digestive tract, while a rhythmic/repetitive pattern on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the respiratory tract. A catheter guidance system and method for accurately placing a catheter in the digestive tract are also provided.
