Insertion device positioning guidance system and method
There is provided herein a system and a method for guiding insertion of a gastroenteral tube including: an electromagnetic field generator configured to generate an electromagnetic field covering a treatment area; wherein said electromagnetic field generator is external to the patient; a registration sensor configured to mark anatomic locations on the patient's torso; a gastroenteral tube comprising a tip sensor configured to sense its position and/or orientation relative to the electromagnetic field generator; and a processing circuitry configured to: calculate an orientation of the subject relative to the field generator based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, load a predefined anatomic map representing a torso; aligning the map based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, and showing on the map a path of the gastroenteral tube insertion; wherein the path is generated according to changes in the strength of the electromagnetic field sensed by the tip sensor's during the insertion of the gastroenteral tube, independent of the subject's movement and independent of deviations in the position and/or orientation of said field generator.
Valve for fluid flow assembly
A feeding pouch assembly includes a pouch defining a fluid chamber with an outlet port extending from the pouch. The outlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid chamber. A valve is positioned at the outlet port and is biased to a natural sealing position wherein flow from the fluid chamber to the outlet port is prevented. The valve moves to a non-sealing position, wherein fluid is free to flow from the fluid chamber to the outlet, upon connection of the outlet port to a feeding tube. The valve automatically moves to the sealing position upon disconnection of the feeding tube from the outlet port.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR PROVIDING PORT-LIKE ACCESS TO A MAMMALIAN URINARY SYSTEM AND METHODS OF INSERTING AND UTILIZING THE SAME
A medical device for providing direct port-like endoscopic access to the urinary bladder, or other orifice, of a patient and a method of utilizing and inserting the medical device. The medical device can include a hollow tube with a main channel and a separate channel, a cap with an inflation port and a hollow flexible stem fluidly connecting the inflation port and the separate channel. A method can include inserting a needle above the pubic symphysis of a mammal, threading a guide wire through the needle, removing the needle and inserting the medical device. The method can optionally include determining measuring the depth between the skin surface of the patient's suprapubic region and urinary bladder.
ENTERAL FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEM
Disclosed is a system for administrating fluids to a patient, such as an infant. The system comprises a container that defines a drip chamber, a source of nutritive fluid fluidically communicating with the drip chamber, and a tube connecting the drip chamber to the gastric cavity of a patient, the chamber including a membrane that is gas-permeable but that is resistant to fluid passage. The system allows fluids to be introduced to the patient and for gastric gases to be released while they are resistant to the leak and spillage.
Disposable Absorbent Stoma Pad for Gastrostomy
An absorbent stoma pad for encapsulating an external bolster of a feeding tube is provided. The stoma pad includes an upper layer, base layer, absorbent material, and cavity. The upper layer, which includes an upper surface and a lower surface, contains a centrally located opening with respect to a periphery of the upper layer, wherein the opening is configured to receive a tube portion of the feeding tube. The base layer, which includes an upper surface and a lower surface, contains a centrally located opening with respect to a periphery of the base layer, wherein the opening is also configured to receive the tube portion of the feeding tube. Meanwhile, the absorbent material is disposed adjacent the upper layer's lower surface. Further, the cavity permits airflow between the absorbent layer and the base layer when the external bolster is encapsulated by the stoma pad and positioned within the cavity.
FEEDING SYSTEM FOR GASSTRIC TUBE PATIENTS
A feeding system for medical patients comprises a storage assembly, dispensing assembly, and extension set including, in part, a reservoir, a pump, a feeding tube, a check valve and an adapter. The reservoir is configured to hold at least one feeding of nutritional substance. The dispensing assembly is connected to the storage assembly and pumps the at least one feeding of nutritional substance from the reservoir to the feeding tube connected to an outlet of the pump. The check valve unit is connected to a second end of the feeding tube by means of a check valve connection point and is configured to allow the flow of nutritional substance in only one direction. The at least one feeding of nutritional substance is passed through the adapter unit connected to the check valve unit.
GASTROSTOMY DEVICE WITH PRESSURE MONITORING
A gastrostomy device (100) comprises a gastrostomy tube (200) having a retainer lumen (235) extending between a proximal part and a distal part of the tube (200); and an inflatable retaining element (300) coupled to the tube (200) at the distal part. An interior space of the retaining element (300) is in fluid communication with the retainer lumen (300). The gastrostomy device (100) also comprises an indicator (410) being in fluid communication with the retainer lumen (235) at the proximal part of the tube (200). The indicator (410) is configured for indicating a pressure in the retaining element (300) continuously within a range from a pressure corresponding to an empty retaining element (300) to an optimal pressure for the inflated retaining element (300).
GASTROSTOMY DEVICE WITH AN IMPROVED RETAINING ELEMENT
A gastrostomy device (100) comprises a gastrostomy tube (200), and an inflatable retaining element (300) coupled to the tube (200) at or near a distal end (205) of the tube (200). The retaining element (300) comprises an inner layer (310) made of polyurethane, PUR, and an outer layer (315) made of polyamide, PA.
Enteral Feeding Systems and Methods
The present specification is directed to systems, devices, and methods of portable enteral pump systems for feeding and/or flushing an ambulatory patient. Embodiments provide an enteral pumping device that may be loaded by a patient from a front and a top side of the pumping device and is therefore more convenient to use. Further, embodiments incorporate a single rotor pump for dual-use purposes of feeding nutrients and flushing fluids to the patient. A pinch valve is placed between the parallel sides of the two tubes to cut off fluid flow when required. At least one sensor is also placed between the rotor pump and an outlet. The sensors are used to detect occlusions and the type of disposables used, among other purposes.
