Process of manufacturing of segments for carbon thrust bearing
A process of manufacturing of segment for carbon thrust bearing uses stainless-steel (SS) round bars/sheets/logs of suitable grade as raw material. The SS round bars/sheets/logs undergo cutting operation to cut into SS billets. The billets successively undergo heating and hot forging processes to form segments of desired shapes. Thereafter, the segment is subjected to heat treatment process i.e. stress relieving, hardening and tempering process successively for obtaining consistent and uniform grain structure, mechanical properties and physical properties of segments which are cost-effective in terms of lower maintenance and lower handling efforts. After heat-treatment process, segment undergoes surface-finishing processes i.e. grinding, lapping and polishing successively for obtaining mirror like surface finishing that gives greater anti-friction property and lower co-efficient of friction. The manufacturing process according to present invention yields consistent grain structure, refine, dense and uniform microstructure of segments which imparts optimum strength, ductility, toughness and resistance to impact and fatigue.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING A FORGED COMPONENT
A method for manufacturing a forged component includes: performing hot forging on a material; heating the hot forged material to a first set temperature; and performing warm coining to correctly shape the heated material. The material may be heated to a second set temperature before hot forging. The material heated to the second set temperature may be hot forged. The second set temperature may be higher than the first set temperature. The hot forged material may be subjected to controlled cooling to a third set temperature at a predetermined cooling rate. The controlled cooled material may be heated to the first set temperature. The third set temperature may be lower than or equal to the first set temperature.

Forged outer ring
A forged outer ring of a tapered wheel bearing incudes a conical ring section having a first end and a second end, a flange section and a central ring section having a first end at the flange section and a second end at the conical ring section. An inner surface of the conical ring section is configured to form a raceway for a first set of tapered rollers. An inner diameter of the first end of the conical ring section is smaller than an inner diameter of the second end of the central ring section and a wall thickness of the second end of the conical ring section is greater than a wall thickness of the first end of the conical ring section.

An annular reference surface is formed around a through-hole of an eye portion. A distal-end-side curved portion is formed at a first corner portion, on an outer side of the annular reference surface. The thickness of the distal-end-side curved portion is reduced in a range of a length from the first flat surface toward the distal end surface. A hole-side curved portion whose thickness is reduced toward an inner surface of the through-hole is formed at a second corner portion, on an inner side of the annular reference surface. The length of the hole-side curved portion is less than the length of the distal-end-side curved portion. The hole-side curved portion is curved with a greater curvature than that of the distal-end-side curved portion.
Method for manufacturing blisk, and blisk intermediate product
A method for manufacturing a blisk includes an intermediate product molding step of molding a blisk intermediate product including a circular disk-corresponding part, a plurality of rotor blade-corresponding parts, and bridges each connecting a front edge of one of each pair of the rotor blade-corresponding parts adjacent to each other and a rear edge of the other one of the rotor blade-corresponding parts. The method for manufacturing the blisk further includes a disk finishing step of cutting the disk-corresponding part so as to finish the disk-corresponding part into the disk in a product form, and a rotor blade finishing step of cutting each bridge so as to finish the respective rotor blade-corresponding parts into the respective rotor blades in a product form.
Open die forging process for minimizing end losses and a product made using it
The invention discloses a process of manufacturing heavy and critical components such as a blowout preventer (BOP) with a combination of open die forging, piercing and machining process which results in to better material utilization and saving in the machining time. The forging process of the invention involves a step of notching, wherein a transverse notch is made near each end of the ingot before cogging said ingot. The invention allows development of safety and critical components with effective material utilisation.
FRONT AXLE BEAM AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF
In a pressing step, a first forged product is pressed by a first die, and thereby, a second forged product including a rough flange having a thickness-changing portion is produced. The thickness-changing portion includes a front part protruding frontward from a side of a rough web part and a rear part protruding rearward from the side of the rough web part. Each of the front part and the rear part includes a first part, and a second part that is thicker than the first part and is located farther from the rough web part than the first part. In the pressing step, at least a part of the rough flange that is above or below the web part (thick part) is pressed by the first die, whereby the material of the first forged product in the part is caused to flow frontward and rearward, and the thickness-changing portion is formed.
FRONT AXLE BEAM AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF
The production method includes a first step, a second step and a third step. In the first step, a steel material is forged by dies, whereby a forged product including a rough web part and four plate-shaped rough flange parts is produced. In the second step, at least one specified rough flange part, which is at least one of the four rough flange parts, is pressed by a first die, whereby a first bent portion bending outward in an up-down direction is formed in the specified rough flange part. In the third step, the edge of the first bent portion is pressed by a second die inward in the up-down direction, whereby the edge is deformed and a second bent portion is formed. In the third step, the edge of the specified flange part is deformed while the edge is kept from deforming in a front-rear direction.
