Offset collar delivery for swage tools
Systems and methods are provided for fastening via a swage tool. One embodiment is a method for fastening via a swage tool. The method includes steps of selecting a hole located at a part, aligning an axis of a lockbolt collar with a center of the hole, placing the lockbolt collar flush against the part at a first end of the hole, and swaging the lockbolt collar onto a lockbolt that has been driven through the hole. This securely fastens the lockbolt collar to the lockbolt.
Aircraft fuselage assembling jig and method of handling aircraft fuselage panel
An aircraft fuselage assembling jig is a horizontal-type jig on which an aircraft fuselage panel is placed in a laid-down state, and includes: a base with a plurality of frame indexes for positioning both ends of a plurality of aircraft fuselage frames; a plurality of header plates, each of which protrudes from the base to extend along the panel, the header plates being arranged in parallel in an axial direction of the panel; a plurality of electric cylinders radially provided on each plate, the electric cylinders moving respective receiving members in a radial direction of the panel, the receiving members contacting a skin included in the panel; and air lifting devices provided on the respective receiving members and that, when supplied with air pressure, lift the skin from receiving surfaces of the respective receiving members and support the aircraft fuselage panel such that the aircraft fuselage panel is slidable.
SENSOR BASED CONTROL OF SWAGE TOOLS
Systems and methods are provided for inspecting installation of a fastener. One method includes monitoring hydraulic pressure of a tool that is installing the fastener, detecting that the hydraulic pressure has dropped by more than a threshold amount within a period of time, determining that a pintail of the fastener has snapped in response to the detecting, and reducing the hydraulic pressure in response to the determining.

Lower drill tool for precision forming of openings in a bracket, and methods of use
A lower drill tool that is structurally configured to receive a bracket, and, to cooperate with an upper drill tool having a pair of spaced apart drill bits. The lower drill tool has part receiving surface, a pair of spaced apart drill bores, a central bore, a centering nub and a biasing member. The drill bores extend downwardly away from the part receiving surface. The central bore is between the drill bores and extends downwardly away from the part receiving surface. The centering nub is slidable within the central bore, and has an upper tip extendable beyond the part receiving surface, positionable between an extended position and a partially retracted position. The upper tip has a conical configuration. The biasing member is positioned within the central bore and biases the centering nub toward the extended position. A drill system and a method are also disclosed.

Net shaped substrate material for substrate joint
An assembly includes an upper substrate, a lower substrate, and a self-piercing rivet. The lower substrate defines a preformed interior cavity and a preformed exterior profile adjacent the interior cavity to define a variable thickness wall. The self-piercing rivet extends through the upper substrate and into the preformed interior cavity of the lower substrate.
Automated rivet apparatus for automated installation of semi-tubular fastener rivets
There is provided an automated rivet apparatus for installing a semi-tubular fastener rivet. The apparatus includes a numerical control (NC) drilling and riveting machine and a controller. The NC drilling and riveting machine includes a lower head having a lower pressure bushing, a lower drill spindle, and a lower anvil to apply an upset force to a tail portion of the semi-tubular fastener rivet. The NC drilling and riveting machine further includes an upper head having an upper pressure bushing, an upper drill spindle, and an upper anvil that holds the semi-tubular fastener rivet to insert the semi-tubular fastener rivet in a rivet-receiving hole. The lower drill spindle countersinks the rivet-receiving hole from a lower side of a workpiece. The controller directs movement of a nose of the lower anvil to apply the upset force and form a predetermined flare contour in the tail portion within a lower countersink.
MOBILE ROBOT PLATFORM
Embodiments provide a mobile robot platform for processing an aircraft structural component with a robot, with a platform which can be moved on a floor in a horizontal movement direction, and with a height adjustment unit, arranged on the platform, the robot being arranged in a vertically adjustable fashion on the height adjustment unit and in at least one processing mode of the mobile robot platform the height adjustment unit is arranged in a non-pivoting fashion with respect to the platform, the robot having robot kinematics for positioning an end effector, and the robot kinematics having a first robot joint with a first robot limb, which is mounted ahead of the first robot joint, and with a second robot limb, which is mounted after the first robot joint, and a second robot joint ahead of which the second robot limb is mounted and after which a third robot limb is mounted.
Nose arrangements for fastener setting machines, and related methods
A nose arrangement for a fastener setting tool having a punch for setting fasteners comprises a support that receives the punch and a nosepiece for guiding the punch and a fastener during a fastener setting operation. The nose arrangement defines first and second fastener transfer areas where wait to be transferred under the punch. A transfer mechanism transfers the fasteners from the first and second fastener transfer areas under the punch and comprises a movable member that can be moved between first and second configurations. In the first configuration the movable member holds a first fastener in a stand-by position under the punch while it collects a second fastener from the first fastener transfer area. In the second configuration, the movable member holds the second fastener in the stand-by position while it collects a third fastener from the second fastener transfer area.
