An overlay is provided for a medication card of the type having a plurality of pharmaceutical products arranged in at least one row. The overlay includes a planar body having a front surface, and a plurality of openings formed in the planar body, with locations of the plurality of openings substantially corresponding to locations of the plurality of products of the medication card. The overlay further includes instructions provided on the front surface of the body for ingesting the plurality of products of the medication card.

Multi-chamber bag for medical purposes and method for recognition of the state of a separable seam of a multi-chamber bag for medical purposes

The invention relates to a multi-chamber bag 1 for medical purposes which is formed by films 2, 3, in particular flexible films, that are arranged against one another, are made of an at least partially transparent material and are interconnected in a liquid-tight manner using at least one non-separable seam 5, the bag being divided into at least two chambers 1A, 1B by at least one separable seam 8, by means of which the films arranged against one another are interconnected in a liquid-tight manner. The multi-chamber bag according to the invention is characterised by at least one visually perceptible structure 10 that signals the state of the at least one separable seam 8 and can be easily optically detected. Using this visible structure 10, the user can immediately identify whether the seam 8 is open or closed. The structure is composed of structural elements 11 which the films 2, 3 arranged against one another comprise in the region of the separable seam 8 and are in a predetermined spatial arrangement relative to one another such that the structural elements in the region of the separable seam complement one another to form the structure signalling the state of the separable seam when the separable seam is closed, such that the films in the region of the separable seam lie against one another in a predetermined orientation, and do not complement one another to form the structure signalling the state of the separable seam when the separable seam is open, such that the films in the region of the separable seam do not lie against one another in a predetermined orientation, meaning that the predetermined spatial arrangement of the structural elements relative to one another in the region of the separable seam no longer exists.

System and method for acoustic sensing to verify proper nasogastric tube placement
12171722 · 2024-12-24 · ·

A tubing assembly for use with electronic catheter guidance systems is provided and includes a catheter and an acoustic sensor. The catheter extends in a longitudinal direction and has a proximal end and a distal end that define a lumen therebetween. Further, the catheter is configured for placement within a patient's digestive tract. The acoustic sensor can be located within the lumen of the catheter or in a sampling chamber connected to the catheter. The acoustic sensor can communicate with a processor to deliver sound data to a display device. The appearance of random spikes on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the digestive tract, while a rhythmic/repetitive pattern on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the respiratory tract. A catheter guidance system and method for accurately placing a catheter in the digestive tract are also provided.

Hot fill laminate

A multi-layered film laminate for use in making hot filled blister packages and a method of making such material is provided. The laminate generally includes a central core layer of barrier polymer film disposed between a slip film and a thermostable film. In particularly advantageous embodiments, the barrier film is a polychlorotrifluoroethylene film, the slip film is a polyvinyl chloride film, and the heat resistant film is a temperature resistant copolyester. The disclosed material provides a high moisture barrier and a stable inter-laminar structure that can withstand hot filling of liquids, such as liquids used to form soft and/or gummy dosages on form-fill-and-seal blister packaging machines.

Container time indicator with a device for inhibiting the removal of the cap
09856060 · 2018-01-02 ·

A time programmable container for timing an object, includes a base for containing the object, a lid for sealing the base, and a spacer which is positioned intermediate the lid and the base. The spacer is positionable in a select one of a plurality of positions on the base. The spacer and the base contain time indicia such that each of the plurality of positions that the spacer can be placed upon the base corresponds to a different of time indication. The base includes a device to secure the spacer in the select one position to inhibit the movement or rotation of the spacer with respect to the base. The securing device includes a finger on the base that cooperates with or mates with a corresponding depression of the spacer. The cap removal inhibiting device includes a cavity on the bottom surface of a lip of the lid, with the lip circumventing the cap, and further includes a tab on the upper surface of the spacer with the tab positioned on the spacer and configured to mate with the cavity of the lid, such that when the spacer is placed upon the base and the lid is threaded onto the base, the tab of the spacer extends into the cavity of the lid, thereby securing the spacer onto the base and further preventing the removal of the lid from the base without first removing the tab from the cavity.
