A medication dispensing system is provided and includes a medicine transfer device (MTD) and a controller. The MTD transfers medicine between first and second containers. The first container initially stores medicine. The controller: determines a first predetermined amount of medicine to be dispensed from the medicine dispensing system; causes the MTD to discharge a second predetermined amount of the medicine from the first container onto the MTD, and transfer a third predetermined amount of the medicine from the MTD to the second container; subsequent to the transfer of the third predetermined amount, determine whether the second container has greater than or equal to the first predetermined amount; and if the second container has less than the first predetermined amount, cause the MTD to transfer a portion of the medicine on the MTD into the second container or discharge a portion of the medicine in the first container onto the MTD.

Medication organizer tray apparatus

A method and a medication organizer tray apparatus for organizing medications and collecting medication adherence information are provided. The medication organizer tray apparatus includes a support frame, multiple medication bins accommodating multiple medications, a bin cover layer with multiple customized bin labels, and a conductive circuit layer. The support frame includes multiple apertures positioned at predefined intervals from each other for placement of the medication bins. The customized bin labels having medical information printed thereon seal openings of the medication bins. The conductive circuit layer includes conductive lines running along one or more of a lower surface of the bin cover layer, around each medication bin, and a lower surface of each medication bin. The conductive circuit layer electrically communicates with a receptacle base to enable detection of removal of each medication bin from the support frame and detection of tampering of the medication bins.

HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Robotic pill dispensers are described. A robotic pill dispenser may include a main body forming a cavity and comprising an inlet port and an outlet port. The pill dispenser may further include a container assembly disposed in the cavity of the main body. The container assembly may include a container body and a plurality of blades fastened to the container body and dividing the container assembly into a plurality of compartments. The plurality of blades may be movable relative to the container body. The pill dispenser may further comprise a processor configured to control the pill dispenser to align a first compartment of the plurality of compartments to the outlet port, determine whether one or more medications are present in the first compartment, and control the mechanical actuator to shake at least a portion of the pill dispenser.

INTRAVENOUS FLUID CONTAINER VOLUME MONITORING SYSTEM

A system, method and device for determining a volume of a fluid in a medication container is disclosed. An infusion of a medication is initiated from a medication container. The medication container includes one or more radio frequency identification (RFID) tags affixed along a side of the container. A radio frequency (RF) signal is directed from a reader device toward the RFID tags disposed on the medication container. A signal strength of one or more returned respective RF signals from the one or more RFID tags is detected, the returned RF signals including one or more identifiers for identifying the one or more RFID tags. A threshold signal level for determining a level of fluid within the medication container is determined, and a volume of the fluid is then determined by determining which of the returned respective RF signals has a signal strength satisfying the threshold signal level.

Drug delivery storage device and system

A drug delivery system includes a storage container defining one or more storage compartments and having at least one container sensor coupled thereto, a container condition change mechanism coupled to the storage container for imparting a change on one or more conditions of the one or more storage compartments, at least one drug delivery device adapted to deliver a drug to a user and adapted to be at least partially disposed within one or more of the one or more storage compartments, at least one delivery device sensor, a delivery device condition change mechanism coupled to the drug delivery device, and a controller coupled to the storage container. The storage container may be adapted to hold a number of drug delivery devices within a number of sealable storage compartments. The container sensor is adapted to sense a condition of the storage container, and the delivery device sensor is adapted to sense a condition of the at least one drug delivery device. The controller is adapted to instruct the container condition change mechanism and/or the delivery device change mechanism to impart a change on at least one condition of the storage container and/or the drug delivery device.

DRUG CASSETTE, AUTOINJECTOR, AND AUTOINJECTOR SYSTEM

A cassette for use with an injector has a housing, and a cassette identification arrangement (cassette ID) defining a code containing information about the cassette that is detectable and decipherable by an injector. The cassette may further have a sleeve movably disposed within the housing, for holding a drug container, and a locking arrangement for interlocking the sleeve with the housing. The cassette may further have an aperture in the housing, and a cassette cap for removing a needle shield of the drug container. The cassette may have an anti-bending structure to prevent bending or flexing of the cassette cap. The injector may have a processor for controlling operational parameters of the injector and a detector communicatively coupled with the processor for detecting and communicating the cassette ID to the microprocessor to decipher the code defined therein. Also, a method of injecting a drug into a patient with an injector, wherein the sequence of actions performed by the user are controlled. Still further, a method of treating a patient in need thereof wherein a cassette containing a drug is provided and administered to the patient using an injector.
