A method can include removing a material including radio opaque particles from an internal passage architecture of a component; and inspecting the component via radiographic imaging at gamma/X-ray wavelengths to detect residual material. A core for use in casting an internal passage architecture of a component can include a material with radiopaque particles dispersed therein.

Congruent melting salt alloys for use as salt cores in high pressure die casting
Congruent melting salt alloys for use as salt cores in high pressure die casting of metallic alloys for the production of complex metallic parts. Congruent melting salt alloys provide mechanical advantages in the high pressure die casting of both aluminum and magnesium alloys. Salt cores may be used to make complex high pressure die casting parts such as internal passages in a closed deck engine block. The congruently melting salt alloy is cast into a shape of a desired salt core. The cast salt core of the congruently melting slat alloy is placed into a high pressure die casting mold for a complex object. Molten metal is introduced into the high pressure die casting mold to form the complex part. The congruently melting salt alloys may be readily removed from the final cast part through flushing with a solvent, such as water, or through other processes known in the art.

A method for casting an internal feature within an object is provided. An internal mold is formed from a mold powder, comprising a base powder and an acid powder mixed into the base powder. A molten material is cast around the internal mold. The molten material is solidified. The internal mold is reacted with water, wherein the reacting causes the acid powder to neutralize the base powder.

The present invention relates to a casting product and a method of manufacturing the casting product. The manufacturing method of the casting product includes: manufacturing a salt core including a heterogeneous material part; manufacturing the casting product by inserting the salt core including the heterogeneous material part into a casting mold; injecting a molten metal into the casting mold; and removing the salt core from the casting product.

According to the method for manufacturing a soluble core for high pressure casting, the method for manufacturing a core by dispersing a heat-resistant hard ceramic powder in a water-soluble chemical salt having a melting point 140 C. to 260 C. lower than a melting point of a cast metal and a heat capacity of 90 J/(mol.Math.K) or more is a very useful technology that can easily manufacture a core for high pressure casting of metals such as aluminum and magnesium, and a method for extracting a core from casting can also be simply performed by heating and extracting the core at a temperature equal to or lower than the melting point of the cast metal, and since the core material can be recycled, it is very advantageous in terms of productivity and economy.
