Casting mold, insert for a casting mold, a cast part and a casting method therefor
A metal casting method and a plastic injection molding method in which an insert is molded in molten material such that no molten material enters the interior of the insert. The usage of a wire thread insert as insert has the advantage that for example in an aluminum cast part thread holes can be produced already as part of the casting process. For this purpose, the casting mold, the insert, as well as the casting method are described.
Hollow metal objects and methods for making same
A method of making a hollow metal component comprising the steps of providing at least one core comprising a first side and a reverse side; utilizing a first metal spray process to apply at least one metal or metal alloy to the first side of the core, resulting in a partially-formed structure comprising a first side and a reverse side; and utilizing a second metal spray process to apply at least one metal or metal alloy to the reverse sides of the partially-formed structure and the core, resulting in a rough structure. A hollow metal component comprising a first side having interior and exterior surfaces, a reverse side having interior and exterior surfaces, the interior surfaces of the first side and the reverse side defining at least one cavity. The component is integrally formed and has regions comprising relatively different material compositions, the regions having gradual transitions of materials therebetween.
Airfoil cooling circuits
An airfoil includes leading and trailing edges; first and second sides extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge, each side having an exterior surface; a core passage located between the first and second sides and the leading and trailing edges; and a wall structure located between the core passage and the exterior surface of the first side. The wall structure includes a plurality of cooling fluid inlets communicating with the core passage for receiving cooling fluid from the core passage, a plurality of cooling fluid outlets on the exterior surface of the first side for expelling cooling fluid and forming a cooling film along the exterior surface of the first side, and a plurality of cooling passages communicating with the plurality of cooling fluid inlets and the plurality of cooling fluid outlets. At least a portion of one cooling passage extends between adjacent cooling fluid outlets.
METHODS AND APPARATUSES USING CAST IN CORE REFERENCE FEATURES
The present disclosure generally relates to methods and apparatuses for forming cast parts having cast in features aligned with a casting core. The part is cast around a casting core within a casting shell. The casting core has a first feature that creates a corresponding second feature of the cast part. The casting core includes a third alignment feature that creates a corresponding fourth feature of the cast part spaced apart from the second feature of the cast part. A machining tool is aligned with the second feature of the cast part based on the fourth feature of the cast part. The machining tools machines the cast part to create the at least one passageway aligned with the second feature.
Investment casting core with cooling feature alignment guide and related methods
An investment casting core (10) incorporates an alignment guide (24) extending through a body (12) of the core. The alignment guide (24) defines a coolant flow path (92) in a later-cast metal component (76) extending from a coolant outlet opening (90) in an impingement structure (88) to an impingement target area (86) of a cooling feature (84) formed on an impingement cooled surface (82) of the component (76). Methods of making the core (10) and using the core (10) in lost wax investment casting processes are also described.
COUPLER FOR A RAILWAY VEHICLE, CORES AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION
A coupler having a support provided through the body of the coupler and a plurality of openings in the coupler which are configured as open cavities. The coupler structure includes a shank that has a vertical support as well as lateral support. The coupler may be configured with a double I-beam structure with openings into the shank. Cores that may be fixed to the mold may be used to form the coupler and produce the openings in the shank.
Investment casting of hollow components
The invention relates to a method for producing a cast component which has cavity structures, using a 3D pattern of digital geometrical coordinates of the cast component by means of a ceramic mold, said method comprising the use of CNC technology.
Method for producing a piston
A method for producing a piston of an internal combustion engine, with a cooling duct, may include producing a piston blank with a cooling duct, closing an inlet and an outlet of the cooling duct by at least one closure element, machine-finishing the piston blank, and removing the at least one closure element.
METHOD AND ASSEMBLY FOR FORMING COMPONENTS USING A JACKETED CORE
A mold assembly for use in forming a component having an outer wall of a predetermined thickness includes a mold and a jacketed core. The jacketed core includes a jacket that includes a first jacket outer wall coupled against an interior wall of the mold, a second jacket outer wall positioned interiorly from the first jacket outer wall, and at least one jacketed cavity defined therebetween. The at least one jacketed cavity is configured to receive a molten component material therein. The jacketed core also includes a core positioned interiorly from the second jacket outer wall. The core includes a perimeter coupled against the second jacket outer wall. The jacket separates the perimeter from the interior wall by the predetermined thickness, such that the outer wall is formable between the perimeter and the interior wall.
BRAKE CARRIER CASTING AND A METHOD OF MAKING A BRAKE CARRIER CASTING
A brake carrier casting and a method of making a brake carrier casting. The brake carrier casting may have a first side portion and a second side portion that may be connected by a first bridge and a second bridge. The first side portion, second side portion, first bridge, and second bridge may define an opening of the brake carrier casting.
