Gas turbine engine airfoil trailing edge passage and core for making same
An airfoil has a body that includes leading and trailing edges that adjoin pressure and suction sides to provide an exterior airfoil surface. A cooling passage extends in a radial direction from a root to a tip. A trailing edge cooling passage interconnects the cooling passage to the trailing edge. The trailing edge cooling passage includes first and second pedestals of different sizes that are arranged in a repeating pattern with respect to pedestals of the same size and with respect to pedestals of different sizes.
Aircraft turbomachine blade and method for manufacturing same using lost-wax casting
An aircraft turbine engine blade includes at least one inner cavity for circulating a ventilation air flow and having a wall with first projecting elements oriented in a first direction and forming air flow disrupters, and at least a second projecting element oriented in a second direction different from the first direction. The second projecting element and at least one of the first projecting elements overlap each other in one area. At least one of the first projecting elements overlaps the second projecting element and has a height (H2, H4) which is greater than that of the second projecting element in the area and greater than that of the other first projecting elements of the wall, in order to retain its disruptive function along the entire length thereof.
Molding method of sand mold using foamed sand, molding die, and sand mold
A molding method of a sand mold including a hardened layer in a predetermined thickness range from an outer layer part, includes: forming a cavity and a filling opening of a die so that a dimension, which is a largest dimension between two intersections of straight lines passing through a section of a boundary portion between the cavity and the filling opening of the die, with respect to an outside line of the section, is less than a predetermined ratio with respect to a thickness dimension of that part of a product portion of the sand mold from which a blowing opening molded in the filling opening projects, the product portion being formed by the cavity of the die; and filling foamed sand into the cavity from the filling opening of the die.
Metallic article and method for manufacturing metallic article
A metallic article can include a cast metallic body and at least one metallic element. The cast metallic body defines at least one first space. The least one metallic element is received in the cast metallic body and seamless with the cast metallic body. The at least one metallic element is exposed from the at least one first space. A heat conductivity of the cast metallic body is lower than that of the at least one metallic element. The present disclosure further provides a method for manufacturing metallic article.
METHOD AND ASSEMBLY FOR A MULTIPLE COMPONENT CORE ASSEMBLY
A component is formed from a component material introduced into a mold assembly. The mold assembly includes a mold that has a cavity defined therein by an interior wall. The cavity receives the component material in a molten state to form the component. A multiple component core assembly is positioned with respect to the mold and has a first core component attached to a second core component at a core split line. A core connection component is attached to each of the first and second core components at the core split line, such that the first core component is held adjacent the second core component at the core split line. The core connection component is formed from a connection component material that is at least partially absorbable by the component material.
Method for casting cast parts
A method for casting cast parts in which a casting mould is provided. The casting mould is enclosed in a housing, forming a filling space between an inner surface section of the housing and an associated outer surface section of the casting mould. The filling space is then filled with a free-flowing filling material and molten metal is poured in the casting mould. As a consequence a binder of the mould material begins to vaporise and combust disintegrating the casting mould. During the filling of the filling space, the filling material has a minimum temperature, starting out from which the temperature of the filling material rises, to beyond a boundary temperature at which the vaporising binder ignites and combusts.
Method for manufacturing a monoblock-type aluminum caliper housing
A method for manufacturing a monoblock-type caliper housing includes: preparing a middle core mold provided with a first and second core-forming portion and a first, second, and third channel; pouring molding sand into the first and second core-forming portions and the first, second, and third channels; heating the middle core mold to form a middle core; forming a salt coating layer on the surfaces of the first, second, and third channel-forming portions of the middle core; putting and heating the middle core in the middle core mold; putting the resultant middle core in a casting mold; pouring molten aluminum in a cavity between the middle core and the casting mold to form a caliper housing; applying ultrasonic waves to the caliper housing to remove the middle core; rinsing the caliper housing; and forming an oil supply hole in the caliper housing.
SIDE FRAME CENTER CORE CONSTRUCTION AND METHOD
A side frame may include a bolster opening configured to receive an outbound portion of a bolster. A center core may be used during the manufacture of the side frame to form the bolster opening. The center core may include first and second side walls configured to form the first and second side frame columns of the bolster opening. Additionally, each of the first side wall and second side wall may include one or more pin core holes each of which is configured to receive a pin core used in forming the fastening holes of the first and second side frame columns.
Airfoil cooling circuits
An airfoil includes leading and trailing edges; first and second sides extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge, each side having an exterior surface; a core passage located between the first and second sides and the leading and trailing edges; and a wall structure located between the core passage and the exterior surface of the first side. The wall structure includes a plurality of cooling fluid inlets communicating with the core passage for receiving cooling fluid from the core passage, a plurality of cooling fluid outlets on the exterior surface of the first side for expelling cooling fluid and forming a cooling film along the exterior surface of the first side, and a plurality of cooling passages communicating with the plurality of cooling fluid inlets and the plurality of cooling fluid outlets. At least a portion of one cooling passage extends between adjacent cooling fluid outlets.
