Dental Fracture Detection Compositions and Methods

In some aspects, this disclosure relates to compositions and/or methods for identifying or diagnosing dental fractures. In some examples, a composition including a contrast agent is applied to a tooth, and then a diagnostic image of that tooth is obtained. The composition may include barium sulfate and/or radioactive iodine, which may be present in or throughout a dispersion medium facilitating application of the composition to a tooth. The barium sulfate may have a reduced particle size to facilitate dispersion within the medium, and therefore application to a tooth/ligament. The composition may include one or more oils, flavors, dyes, or other additives such as surfactants. The composition may be applied topically or via injection, such as injection into the adjacent periodontal ligament.

Method of Visualizing and Quantifying Remineralization
20210100495 · 2021-04-08 ·

A method of assessing and/or quantifying remineralization in a tooth model by exposing a tooth model to calcium and a calcium-binding fluorophore either sequentially or simultaneously under conditions sufficient to produce a remineralized/demineralized tooth model; exposing the remineralized/demineralized tooth model to a non-calcium binding fluorophore to produce an enhanced tooth model; and assessing and/or quantifying remineralization, demineralization, or both on the enhanced tooth model by determining the location and extent of calcium binding fluorophore and non-calcium binding fluorophore on the enhanced test tooth sample.

KIT AND METHOD FOR DETECTING POROUS DENTAL HYDROXYAPATITE
20190374439 · 2019-12-12 ·

The present invention relates to a kit and a probe for detecting porous dental hydroxyapatite that includes a protein capable of binding porous dental hydroxyapatite or a detector thereof. The invention also relates to a method for detecting a condition involving porous dental hydroxyapatite that includes detecting in or on a tooth or a sample of the tooth of a subject a protein bound to porous dental hydroxyapatite. The invention also relates to methods for detecting a hypomineralisation developmental dental defect or detecting intact and/or broken MIH enamel, and to a kit and method for removing a protein bound to porous dental hydroxyapatite.

Method of diagnosing optical inhomogeneity of a volume scattering object and a dental tool
10456228 · 2019-10-29 · ·

A method of diagnosing optical inhomogeneity of a volume scattering object is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a substance coated with phosphorous materials, adapting the substrate to a surface of a volume scattering object to be diagnosed, and trans-illuminating the volume scattering object with radiation. A dental tool including a substrate is also provided. The substrate includes a transparent flexible film or metallic foil with an applied coating of upconversion phosphors, afterglow particles or both.
