Method for producing a flat product from an iron-based shape memory alloy

Methods for producing a flat product from an iron-based shape memory alloy may involve casting a melt comprised of iron, alloying elements, and impurities into a strip having a thickness of 1-30 mm and cooling the melt as the strip is formed. A twin-roll caster may be employed to help cool and form the melt into the strip. The resultant flat product is highly resistant to bending and is robust under pressure and torsion.

Iterative learning control for periodic disturbances in twin-roll strip casting with measurement delay

A twin roll casting system where the casting rolls have a nip between the casting rolls, each roller having a circumference and a rotational period. The casting roll controller adjusts the nip between the casting rolls in response to control signals. The sensor measures at least one parameter of the cast strip. The ILC controller receives strip measurement signals from the sensor and provides control signals to the casting roll controller. The ILC controller includes an ILC control algorithm to generate the control signals based on the strip measurement signals and a time delay estimate based on circumference, rotational period, and a length of cast strip between the nip and the sensor to compensate for an elapsed time from the cast strip exiting the nip to being measured by the cast strip sensor.

HIGH FRICTION ROLLING OF THIN METAL STRIP

Described herein are thin metal strips having hot rolled exterior side surfaces characterized as being primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, or at least primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, and including elongated surface structure. As a result, because the prior austenite grain boundaries are not primarily or substantially present, all such prior austenite grain boundaries are not susceptible to grain boundary etching due to acid etching or pickling. In particular examples, the thin metal strips undergo hot rolling performed with a coefficient of friction equal to or greater than 0.20 with or without use of lubrication.

An AMC, and in particular to an AMC with high strength, high toughness, high thermal conductivity, and good weldability for a 5G base station and a preparation method thereof. A strip of the AMC with high strength, high toughness, high thermal conductivity, and good weldability for a 5G base station can be prepared by an electromagnetically and ultrasonically-controlled twin-roll continuous casting device developed and designed based on chemical composition designing, in-situ nanoparticle strengthening and refinement, and REM microalloying. The composite strip prepared by this technology has fine grains, nano-REM precipitated phases in grains, and in-situ nano-ceramic particles with high thermal conductivity at grain boundaries, which significantly improves strength, toughness, and thermal conductivity of the alloy at room temperature, and increases a grain boundary content and effectively improves roll cold weldability of the alloy strip since the alloy composition design with a low melting point and the significant grain refinement.
