METHOD OF ATTACHING A DENTAL ARTICLE TO THE SURFACE OF THE TOOTH
20170231724 · 2017-08-17 ·

A method of attaching a dental article to the surface of a tooth includes providing the dental article and applying a coating including upconversion phosphors to a surface of the dental article. The method also includes applying a dental cement composition to the surface of the tooth and placing the dental article on the surface of the tooth such that the coating is adjacent the dental cement composition. The dental cement composition includes a polymerizable resin and a photoinitiator and is substantially free of upconversion phosphors. The method further includes irradiating the coating with a radiation source that emits radiation at a pre-determined fixed wavelength that causes the upconversion phosphors to emit radiation at an activation wavelength of the dental cement composition photoinitiator such that the dental cement composition cures in a region adjacent the coating and removing remaining uncured dental cement composition outside the dental article from the tooth.

A luminescent coating is disclosed that is used to dimensionally control the curing of a photocurable agent placed in close contact with the coating. The coating is applied at the interface of structures, such as brackets and prosthetics, or may be applied directly on a curable material for use in 3D printing, at the location where bonding material is needed to be cured. The luminescent coating irradiates from its structure the curing radiations necessary to photopolymerize the resin in response to a first radiation irradiated on its structure of a different wavelength.

CURABLE DENTAL COMPOSITION

The present invention relates to a dental curable composition containing a (meth)acrylic based monomer (A) containing two or more (meth)acryloyloxy groups and one or more urethane bond in one molecule, a (meth)acrylate ester compound (B) containing two or more (meth)acryloyloxy groups and one or more hydroxy group in one molecule, a polymerization initiator (C), and an ion releasing compound (D); a dental filling and restorative material containing the dental curable composition; a dental cement containing the dental curable composition; and a dental abutment building material containing the dental curable composition.

Methodology of dental caries detection

Disclosed are methods for detecting demineralization of a surface of a tooth, comprising a) contacting the tooth of a subject with an orally acceptable, binding composition comprising a binding agent that binds to a demineralized surface of the tooth; b) removing unbound binding compound; c) contacting the tooth with an orally acceptable, detector composition comprising a probe compound that reacts with the binding agent to form a visually detectable reaction product; and d) detecting formation of the reaction product as an indication of the presence or extent of surface demineralization of the tooth. Systems, kits, and compositions for practicing the methods are also provided.

Detection and removal of carious dentin tissue
09642780 · 2017-05-09 · ·

The present invention relates to a kit of parts for detection and removal of carious dentin tissue comprising: (i) one or more compounds being a hydrazine derivative, and (ii) means for chemical treatment of carious dentin tissue. Further, the invention concerns a preparation containing an active, caries-dissolving two-component liquid in the form of a first active, caries-dissolving component and a second component which reduces the aggressiveness of the active component to mucous membranes, a viscosity increasing substance and one or more compounds being a hydrazine derivative. The hydrazine derivative labels carious dentin tissue selectively and substantially irreversibly in the presence of healthy dentin tissue, which is useful in the context of caries removal.

Continuous silica production process and silica product prepared from same

Disclosed herein is a continuous process for preparing a silica product, comprising: (a) continuously feeding an acidulating agent and an alkali metal silicate into a loop reaction zone comprising a stream of liquid medium; wherein at least a portion of the acidulating agent and the alkali metal silicate react to form a silica product in the liquid medium of the loop reaction zone; (b) continuously recirculating the liquid medium through the loop reaction zone; and (c) continuously discharging from the loop reaction zone a portion of the liquid medium comprising the silica product. Silica products and dentifrice compositions comprising the silica products are also disclosed. A continuous loop reactor is also disclosed.
