A FLUX FEEDING APPARATUS AND FLUX OPTIMIZATION SELECTION METHOD
A flux feeding apparatus 10 for delivering flux to a mold 13 during a continuous casting process is described. The apparatus comprises: a plurality of silos 20a-20c each containing a different flux or flux component; a receiver 52 for receiving process parameters of the casting process; and a controller 44 which is configured to: analyse the process parameters received by the receiver 52; determine whether a current flux composition is appropriate for the received process parameters; and if the current flux composition is not appropriate for the received process parameters, change the delivery of flux or flux components from the plurality of silos to provide a required flux composition to the mold 13 for the received parameters. A corresponding method is also described.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY PRODUCING A METALLIC WORKPIECE IN STRIP FORM
A method for continuously producing a strip-shaped metallic workpiece may involve introducing a molten mass into a casting region, solidifying the molten mass introduced into the casting region at least partially, and conveying the at least partially solidified molten mass out of the casting region. Hollow bodies may be added to the molten mass and encapsulated into the workpiece. Further, an apparatus for continuously producing a strip-shaped metallic workpiece may include a casting region into which a molten mass can be introduced and in which the molten mass introduced can solidify at least partially. The apparatus may also include a conveying device for conveying the molten mass out of the casting region, as well as a metering apparatus for adding hollow bodies to the molten mass.

A continuous casting process of a steel semi-product is provided. The process includes a step of casting using a hollow jet nozzle located between a tundish and a continuous casting mould. The nozzle includes, in its upper part, a dome for deflecting the liquid metal arriving at the inlet of the nozzle towards the internal wall of the nozzle, defining an internal volume with no liquid metal. A simultaneous step of injecting powder through a hole of the dome occurs. The powder has a particle size of 200 ?m or less. The dome includes a first device to inject the powder without any contact with the dome and a second device to avoid sticking or sintering of the powder onto the first device.
