Method and casting/rolling system for casting and rolling a continuous strand material
A method for operating a casting/rolling system and to a corresponding system for casting and rolling an endless strand material. The casting/rolling system comprises a strand casting machine and a rolling train arranged downstream of the strand casting machine. The method has the following step: controlling the drive for the rollers of the first roller frame of the rolling train by means of a drive control in response to a target value specification of the pass sequence model. Furthermore, the drive of the at least one strand guiding roller is controlled by a strand guiding roller drive control in response to a target value specification of the strand casting machine drive model.
High friction rolling of thin metal strip
Described herein are thin metal strips having hot rolled exterior side surfaces characterized as being primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, or at least primarily or substantially free of all prior austenite grain boundaries, and including elongated surface structure. As a result, because the prior austenite grain boundaries are not primarily or substantially present, all such prior austenite grain boundaries are not susceptible to grain boundary etching due to acid etching or pickling. In particular examples, the thin metal strips undergo hot rolling performed with a coefficient of friction equal to or greater than 0.20 with or without use of lubrication.
Continuous casting method and corresponding apparatus
Method for the continuous casting of a product (P) along a curved casting line (18), provided with a crystallizer (11) having a tubular cavity (12) with a polygonal cross section defined by a determinate number of sides (n). The product (P) exiting from the crystallizer (11) is curved along the casting line (18) by support and curving rollers (19) and without the aid of lateral containing sectors of the cross section of the product (P).
Device for the soft reduction of round-section metal products
A soft reduction device (1) of a round-section metal product, having liquid or partially liquid core, for reducing the thickness of said metal product coming from a continuous casting machine, the device comprising at least two soft reduction units (2, 3); in which said at least two soft reduction units (2, 3) are arranged in series; in which each soft reduction unit (2, 3) is provided with a group of only three rolls arranged at 120 from one another; and wherein the group of three rolls (7, 8, 9) of one soft reduction unit is offset by a predetermined angle with respect to the group of three rolls (10, 11, 12) of an adjacent soft reduction unit.
ULTRA-HIGH STRENGTH WEATHERING STEEL AND HIGH FRICTION ROLLING OF THE SAME
Disclosed herein is a light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel sheet comprising between 0.5% and 1.5% nickel. Also disclosed herein is a high friction rolled carbon alloy steel strip free of prior austenite grain boundary depressions and having a smear pattern. Still further disclosed herein is a high friction rolled carbon alloy steel strip that has been surface homogenized to provide a thin cast steel strip free of a smear pattern.
ULTRA-HIGH STRENGTH WEATHERING STEEL PILES AND STRUCTURAL FOUNDATIONS
Disclosed herein is a light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel pile for use as a steel foundation in structures such as, for example, solar arrangements. The light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel pile comprises a thickness of 2.5 mm or less that has been cold roll formed into a steel pile having a plurality of sidewalls. The steel pile further comprises a yield strength of between 700 and 1600 MPa, a tensile strength of between 1000 and 2100 MPa, and an elongation of between 1% and 10%.
CONTINUOUS CASTING LINE HAVING INDIVIDUAL ROLLER ENGAGEMENT
A continuous casting line, which has a mold for the output of a strand and a strand guide connected to the mold having a plurality of rollers arranged in pairs for transporting the strand in a conveying direction. One or more of the rollers can be engaged so that a thickness reduction of the strand occurs in the strand guide.
Copper ingot, copper wire material, and method for producing copper ingot
A copper ingot of the present invention which is casted by a belt-caster type continuous casting apparatus includes: 1 ppm by mass or less of carbon; 10 ppm by mass or less of oxygen; 0.8 ppm by mass or less of hydrogen; 15 ppm by mass to 35 ppm by mass of phosphorus; and a balance of Cu and inevitable impurities, and includes inclusions formed of oxides containing carbon, phosphorus, and Cu.
HIGH FORMABILITY STEEL SHEET FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURAL PARTS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS
A steel sheet has a composition comprising, by weight: 0.010%C0.080%, 0.06%Mn3%, Si1.5%, 0.005%Al1.5%, S0.030%, P0.040%, Ti and B such that: 3.2%Ti7.5% and (0.45Ti)1.35B(0.45Ti)0.43, optionally Ni1%, Mo1%, Cr3%, Nb0.1%, V0.1%, the remainder being iron and unavoidable impurities resulting from the smelting. The steel sheet has a structure consisting of ferrite, at most 10% of austenite, and precipitates comprising eutectic precipitates of TiB.sub.2, the volume fraction of TiB.sub.2 precipitates with respect to the whole structure being of at least 9%, the proportion of TiB.sub.2 precipitates having a surface area lower than 8 m.sup.2 being of at least 96%.
Variable thickness continuous casting for tailor rolling
Methods of forming a high-strength metal alloy precursor by tailor-casting strips having a tailored thickness across a width of a strip material are provided. The tailor-cast strips have varying thickness throughout the width, which can then be further tailor rolled to a final required thickness profile/tailored thickness. Such tailor-casting method can be conducted by contacting a patterned surface of a casting roller or a casting block with a liquid high-strength metal alloy in a continuous casting process. The present disclosure provides methods of continuously casting a strip having varying thickness across the width allows for improved product in subsequent processing, like tailor rolling. Methods of making a high-strength metal alloy structural automotive component from a tailor-cast blank having a tailored thickness are also provided.
