Method for continuous-casting slab

A primary object of this invention is to provide a continuous casting method by which a slab of excellent internal quality can be obtained even if the casting speed is changed. In this invention, upon continuous casting with two pairs of the reduction rolls arranged along a casting direction and support rolls arranged between the reduction rolls, when a casting speed is reduced compared to a state where combination of reduction with reduction rolls at a first stage on an unsolidified portion of the slab and reduction with reduction rolls at a second stage on a solidified portion thereof is employed, the combination is switched to combination of reduction with the reduction rolls at the first stage on a portion of the slab at an end of solidification and the reduction with the reduction rolls at the second stage on the solidified portion thereof.

A bearing box for a rotating roller for supporting or transporting a high-temperature object. The bearing box includes a bearing and seal units disposed therein. A cooling jacket is disposed at an outer periphery of the bearing box so that the cooling jacket covers at least a portion of an axial region of the bearing and at least a portion of an axial region of the seal unit. The cooling jacket has a cooling water inlet and a cooling water outlet, and the bearing box is cooled by cooling water supplied to the cooling jacket through the cooling water inlet.

Continuous casting of materials using pressure differential
10155263 · 2018-12-18 · ·

A system and method for continuous casting. The system includes a melt chamber, a withdrawal chamber, and a secondary chamber therebetween. The melt chamber can maintain a melting pressure and the withdrawal chamber can attain atmospheric pressure. The secondary chamber can include regions that can be adjusted to different pressures. During continuous casting operations, the first region adjacent to the melt chamber can be adjusted to a pressure that is at least slightly greater than the melting pressure; the pressure in subsequent regions can be sequentially decreased and then sequentially increased. The pressure in the final region can be at least slightly greater than atmospheric pressure. The differential pressures can form a dynamic airlock between the melt chamber and the withdrawal chamber, which can prevent infiltration of the melt chamber by non-inert gas in the atmosphere, and thus can prevent contamination of reactive materials in the melt chamber.

Method of manufacturing round steel billet

A method of manufacturing a round steel billet by continuous casting includes a local cooling step where inhomogeneous forced cooling is applied to a cast product during the continuous casting, and a rolling reduction step where rolling reduction is applied to the cast product in the opposite directions of the polar opposites by reduction rolls in the course from the completion of solidification to the completion of the recuperation of the cast product so that rolling reduction r which is a reduction ratio of a distance between middle points of the polar opposites is set to a value exceeding 0% and 5% or less.
