PRODUCTION METHOD AND PRODUCTION APPARATUS OF CONTINUOUSLY CAST METAL ROD
Provided is a production method capable of producing a high-quality continuously cast material. A cooling liquid is supplied to each of outer peripheral surfaces of a plurality of ingots extracted in parallel from a plurality of molds to cool the plurality of ingots. Of the outer peripheral surfaces of the ingot, a region which is open and does not face another ingot is defined as an open region, and a region which faces another ingot is defined as an ingot facing region. The open region is cooled with weak cooling in which the degree of cooling by the cooling liquid in the open region is set to be less than the degree of cooling by the cooling liquid in the ingot facing region.

ULTRA-HIGH STRENGTH WEATHERING STEEL AND HIGH FRICTION ROLLING OF THE SAME
Disclosed herein is a light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel sheet comprising between 0.5% and 1.5% nickel. Also disclosed herein is a high friction rolled carbon alloy steel strip free of prior austenite grain boundary depressions and having a smear pattern. Still further disclosed herein is a high friction rolled carbon alloy steel strip that has been surface homogenized to provide a thin cast steel strip free of a smear pattern.
ULTRA-HIGH STRENGTH WEATHERING STEEL PILES AND STRUCTURAL FOUNDATIONS
Disclosed herein is a light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel pile for use as a steel foundation in structures such as, for example, solar arrangements. The light-gauge, ultra-high strength weathering steel pile comprises a thickness of 2.5 mm or less that has been cold roll formed into a steel pile having a plurality of sidewalls. The steel pile further comprises a yield strength of between 700 and 1600 MPa, a tensile strength of between 1000 and 2100 MPa, and an elongation of between 1% and 10%.
CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD, CONTINUOUS CASTING DEVICE, AND CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD
A crack-free continuous casting mold configured so that occurrence of cracks at a casting billet can be reduced even in a case where a casting speed exceeds 500 mm/min. The continuous casting mold continuously casts a casting billet while cooling molten metal by a cooling device provided at a cooling casting mold. The cooling device includes multiple cooling nozzles configured to release coolant water to the casting billet pulled out of the cooling casting mold to cool the casting billet. Multiple ejection ports of the multiple cooling nozzles are arranged along an outer circumferential direction of a surface of the casting billet. Each ejection port has a short side and a long side, and is configured such that the long side is arranged along an axial direction of the casting billet.
COOLANT NOZZLE FOR COOLING A METAL STRAND IN A CONTINUOUS CASTING INSTALLATION
A coolant nozzle (1) for cooling a metal strand in a continuous casting installation has a mouthpiece (5), which is arranged at a nozzle outlet end (4) and through which liquid coolant (6) can emerge from the coolant nozzle (1). To allow a rapid buildup of pressure at the coolant nozzle (1), it provides a feed (8), which is formed as a tube-in-tube system (9) arranged upstream of the mouthpiece (5) in the direction of through-flow (7) and has a feed outlet end (10), through the first tube (11) in which control air (13) can be brought up to the feed outlet end (10) and through the second tube (12) of which the liquid coolant (6) can be fed to the mouthpiece (5) by way of the feed outlet end (10), and also provides a control valve (14), which is integrated in the feed (8), is arranged at the feed outlet end (10), can be actuated pneumatically by using the control air (13) and is intended for controlling the feed of the liquid coolant (6) into the mouthpiece (5).
Crystallizer for Continuous Casting and Method for Obtaining the Same
A crystallizer for continuous casting including a tubular body formed of a first and a second tubular element both monolithic each made in one single piece in a metal alloy and mounted coaxial, the first inside the second with radial play, one of the first and second tubular element being provided with one or more grooves opened towards the other tubular element; the first and second tubular element are mechanically coupled together, by plastic deformation by means of drawing between a die and a mandrel appropriately shaped, in such a manner to eliminate the radial play, so that the tubular body is monolithic and the grooves are radially closed, forming conduits in the tubular body configured to serve as cooling conduits and/or housing reinforcement bars.
Process and apparatus for direct chill casting
A process in direct chill casting wherein molten metal is introduced into a casting mold and cooled by impingement of a liquid coolant on solidifying metal in a casting pit including a movable platen and an occurrence of a bleed-out or run-out is detected the process including exhausting generated gas from the casting pit; and introducing an inert gas into the casting pit, the inert gas having a density less than a density of air; reducing any flow of the liquid coolant.
CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING STEEL
A continuous casting mold including a water-cooled copper mold having a mold copper plate including an inner wall surface, recessed portions disposed partially or entirely in a region of the inner wall surface of the water-cooled copper mold from at least a position located at a meniscus to a position located 20 mm lower than the meniscus, and material-filled layers disposed in the recessed portions with a metal or nonmetal having a thermal conductivity different from that of the mold copper plate of the water-cooled copper mold. A shape of each of the recessed portions at a surface of the mold copper plate includes a curved surface.
Method to determine the crater end location of a cast metal product
A method to determine the crater end location of a cast metal product during its casting, the crater end location being the location at which the cast metal product becomes fully solidified. A continuous casting method and a continuous casting machine are also provided.
