ULTRASOUND ASSISTED VERTICAL SHOT CHAMBER FOR DIE CASTING APPLICATIONS
A method and apparatus for producing semi-solid material castings from its liquid state in a shot chamber of a vertical die casting machine where the liquid material is poured into a shot chamber and rapidly cooled from its liquid state to temperatures below its liquidus. High-intensity ultrasonic vibration is applied to the cast material. The combined action of rapid cooling from the shot chamber, vigorous pushing by the plunger, and radiation of ultrasonic vibration on the cast material in the shot chamber directly turns the initial liquid material directly into a semi-solid slurry. The slurry is then injected into a die cavity to form a casting.
Nuclear Waste Management
Nuclear waste, such as, but not limited to, spent nuclear fuel (SNF) assemblies or portions thereof, are placed within diecast molds, and then gravity fed molding occurs within those loaded diecast molds and around the SNF assemblies (or portions thereof) that are located within those diecast molds, using molten alloy(s) for filling the diecast molds, to form solid metal ingots (castings) upon sufficient cooling of the newly formed ingots. The molten alloy(s) may contain a copper alloy. The molten alloy(s) may also contain neutron absorbers. Each such formed ingot may entirely encapsulate a SNF assembly (or a portion thereof) within the resolidified alloy(s). The ingots may be placed into waste capsules. The ingots and/or the waste capsules may be landed in deeply located horizontal wellbores. The deeply located horizontal wellbores may be at least partially located within deeply located geologic formations.
Digital Die Casting Machine with Mold Temperature Control
The present disclosure relates to the technical field of die casting machine devices, in particular to a digital die casting machine with mold temperature control, including: a die casting machine configured to die-cast a casting through a mold, a cooling flow control apparatus configured to control a mold temperature by controlling a cooling medium flow, a temperature collection apparatus configured to collect the mold temperature, a control cabinet configured to acquire and store data collected by the temperature collection apparatus and control operation of the die casting machine, the cooling flow control apparatus and an automatic control apparatus, an edge computer configured to execute a die casting temperature optimization strategy according to the collected data stored in the control cabinet, and the automatic control apparatus. The present disclosure improves the molding quality of castings by adjusting the mold temperature in a casting process.
