Die-casting machine with a system for auto-tuning of injection valves

An injection assembly for a die-casting machine includes an injection piston for which a desired speed (Vset) is defined during a metal injection step. The piston is moved by an injection delivery valve and an injection drain valve, controlled in opening according to a tuning speed (Vreg). A system of auto-tuning of the opening of the valves is provided. The tuning speed (Vreg) is determined according to the difference between the desired speed (Vset) for the piston and an effective speed (Veff) of the piston, detected for the previous die-casting cycle.

VACUUM SENSOR SYSTEM FOR HIGH PRESSURE DIE CASTING

A vacuum sensor system includes a vacuum pump, vacuum tank, solenoid valve, filters, vacuum block, sensors, and a central processing unit (CPU). The vacuum sensor system monitors the performance of a vacuum system connected to a high pressure die casting machine to ensure that the components cast in the mold or die will have a greater yield of acceptable parts. More specifically, the vacuum sensor system uses sensors to monitor and analyze the vacuum pressure at multiple locations to determine which components are clogging and causing a loss of vacuum pressure in the system. When the CPU detects an anomaly in the pressure, the CPU provides notification in one or more of the following ways: sending a command to shut down the die casting machine; visual notification on the screen of the CPU; an audible warning signal; a visual notification on a semaphore installed on the machine; and/or an electronic notification to one or more users via email, text, or other form of telecommunication.

A lead delivery apparatus for a cast on strap machine is arranged to deliver a predetermined volume of molten lead to a mould. The apparatus includes a first needle valve, a second needle valve, and a housing. The housing includes a reservoir having an inlet and an outlet. The reservoir inlet is in fluid communication with a molten lead supply. The reservoir is supplied with molten lead during use such that the molten lead in the reservoir is maintained at a constant height. A volume block has an inlet, an outlet and a through cavity and the volume block inlet is in fluid communication with the reservoir outlet. The through cavity together with the second needle valve defines the predetermined volume of molten lead received from the reservoir.

A foundry casting system and process employs an inert gas delivery and recovery system for casting parts which results in cast parts having improved metalurgical characteristics. The system may be employed in sand, die casting, semi-permanent and permanent casting environments. Pressurized inert gas may be diffused into the mold before, during and after the metal pouring step. The resulting casting is free from oxides and dissolved hydrogen gas as they are removed from the mold cavity. This results in higher quality castings as well as increased production output due to faster cooling cycles.
