Embedding thermally-resistant flexible cabling within a metal casting during die-casting
The present disclosure describes embedding thermally-resistant flexible cabling within a metal casting during die-casting. A die-casting process may include fixing the thermally-resistant flexible cabling within a die, and die-casting the metal to form a metal casting having the thermally-resistant flexible cabling embedded within the metal casting. In some cases, the thermally-resistant flexible cabling may be utilized for grounding of the metal casting.
Lead delivery apparatus
A lead delivery apparatus for a cast on strap machine is arranged to deliver a predetermined volume of molten lead to a mould. The apparatus includes a first needle valve, a second needle valve, and a housing. The housing includes a reservoir having an inlet and an outlet. The reservoir inlet is in fluid communication with a molten lead supply. The reservoir is supplied with molten lead during use such that the molten lead in the reservoir is maintained at a constant height. A volume block has an inlet, an outlet and a through cavity and the volume block inlet is in fluid communication with the reservoir outlet. The through cavity together with the second needle valve defines the predetermined volume of molten lead received from the reservoir.

Method for Producing a Component, in Particular for a Motor Vehicle, and Component
A method for producing a component includes incorporating a molding compound into a tool for producing the component, where the molding compound includes an artificial resin as a matrix and a filler material embedded in the matrix. The method includes compressing the molding compound by the tool and by the compressing forming the molding compound to a green product. The method further includes providing the green product while disposed in the tool with a layer in a sub-region by incorporating a liquid material for producing the layer into the tool and applying the liquid material to the sub-region. The liquid material is a metallic material and the layer is an electromagnetic shielding on the green product.

A DEVICE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF LEAD GRID ELECTRODES FOR LEAD ACID BATTERIES IN A CONTINUOUS CASTING PROCESS
A device for casting electrode grids for producing lead acid batteries in a continuous casting process. The device includes a casting wheel and a casting shoe which rests on an outer circumference of the casting wheel. Liquid lead exiting the casting shoe flows into a concave mold of the casting wheel surface and is removable as a solidified lead strip. The casting shoe is made up of two or more zones, at least a first hot zone with a temperature above the melting point of lead and a second, thermally separated zone with a temperature below the melting point of lead. Cooling the lead strip from two sides (the wheel side and the shoe side) avoids columnar crystal formation and increases the casting speed to 40 meter per minute and above. Thermal isolation of the lead feeding tube avoids re-flowing of lead to a lead pot, reducing PbO formation.
Method of producing an optical element
A process for producing an optical element, which may be suitable for use in an infrared camera with sharp surface features and low emissivity surfaces, including the steps of casting the element in the desired shape in a zinc alloy, deburring the zinc alloy element with a thermal deburring operation, and coating the deburred zinc alloy element with an electrocoating operation.
Process for making finished or semi-finished articles of silver alloy
A process for making a finished or semi-finished article of silver alloy, said process comprising the steps of providing a silver alloy containing silver in an amount of at least 77 wt %, copper and an amount of germanium that is preferably at least 0.5 wt % and is effective to reduce tarnishing and/or firestain, making or processing the finished or semi-finished article of the alloy by heating at least to an annealing temperature, gradually cooling the article; and reheating the article to effect precipitation hardening thereof. The avoidance of quenching reduces the risk of damage to the article.
