A 3-dimensional printing system for manufacturing a part is provided. The system includes a building platform having a deposited pattern of metal powder, a sand dispensing nozzle selectively supplying sand to the building platform, a binder dispensing nozzle selectively supplying binder material to the building platform, a robotic arm supporting one or more of the sand dispensing nozzle and the binder dispensing nozzle, the robotic arm moving the one or more of the sand dispensing nozzle and the binder dispensing nozzle, and a processor controlling the robotic arm to position the one or more of the sand dispensing nozzle and the binder dispensing nozzle relative to the deposited pattern of metal powder and control the sand dispensing nozzle and the binder dispensing nozzle to supply powdered sand and binder, respectively, based on a Computer Aided Drafting file associated with the part.
Additively manufactured mesh cavity antenna
An antenna device is disclosed, including a cavity structure having a floor portion and a perimeter wall portion connected to the floor portion. A dipole structure extends upward from a center region of the floor portion inside the cavity structure. At least one of the wall portion and the dipole structure has an opening small enough relative to an expected radio frequency wavelength to avoid affecting antenna performance.
Method and system for manufacturing small adaptive engines
A method for manufacturing small adaptive engines uses a battlefield repository having cloud services that is configured to enable additive manufacturing (AM) of engine parts and assemblies. The method also uses a compilation of recipes/signatures for building the engine parts and the assemblies using additive manufacturing (AM) processes and machine learning programs. An additive manufacturing system and an alloy powder suitable for performing the additive manufacturing (AM) processes can be provided. In addition, the engine parts can be built using the additive manufacturing (AM) system, the alloy powder, the battlefield repository and the compilation of recipes/signatures. A system for manufacturing small adaptive engines includes the battlefield repository, the compilation of recipes/signatures, a foundry system for providing the alloy powder and an additive manufacturing (AM) system configured to perform the additive manufacturing (AM) processes.

The present invention relates to a method for the additive manufacture of components (2), wherein a pulverulent or wire-shaped metal construction material is deposited on a platform (4) in layers, melted using a primary heating device (7), in particular using a laser or electron beam (14), and is heated using an induction heating device (8), which has an alternating voltage supply device (9) with an induction generator (16) and at least one induction coil (10) which can be moved above the platform (4). The induction generator (16) is controlled such that the induction generator is driven with a different output at different specified positions of the at least one induction coil (10). The invention additionally relates to a device, to a control method, and to a storage medium.
METHOD OF FORMING A HIGH TEMPERATURE SENSOR
A method of forming a high temperature sensor includes preparing a substrate having a surface from an electrically insulative material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), preparing an electrical conductor from a metal material having a second CTE that is different from the first CTE, and creating an interface between the electrical conductor and the substrate with a CTE blending medium that is provided between the substrate and the electrical conductor. The CTE blending medium accommodates differing thermal expansion rates of the substrate and the electrical conductor at temperatures of at least 700° C.
Composite member and method for manufacturing composite member
A composite member is manufactured by a manufacturing method including adding, on a surface of a base member composed of a first material, a second material different from the first material, using additive manufacturing employing directed energy deposition as an additive manufacturing process. The manufacturing method is performed by placing the base member in a machining area of a machine tool configured to perform subtractive machining. Accordingly, a composite member can be obtained that is manufactured through additive manufacturing and that is in a state in which the composite member can be promptly machined.
In situ and real time quality control in additive manufacturing process
Use of a sensor read out system with at least one fiber optical sensor, which is connected via at least one signal line to a processing unit as part of an additive manufacturing setup, for in situ and real time quality control of a running additive manufacturing process. Acoustic emission is measured via the at least one fiber optical sensor in form of fibers with Bragg grating, fibre interferometer or Fabry-Perot structure, followed by a signal transfer and an analysis of the measured signals in the processing unit, estimation of the sintering or melting process quality due to correlation between sintering or melting quality and measured acoustic emission signals and subsequent adaption of ion and electron beams, microwave or laser sintering or melting parameters of a ion and electron beams, microwave or laser electronics of the additive manufacturing setup in real times via a feedback loop as a result of the measured acoustic emission signals after interpretation with an algorithmic framework in the processing unit.
Method for laser-assisted manufacturing
A laser-assisted microfluidics manufacturing process has been developed for the fabrication of additively manufactured structures. Roll-to-roll manufacturing is enhanced by the use of a laser-assisted electrospray printhead positioned above the flexible substrate. The laser electrospray printhead sprays microdroplets containing nanoparticles onto the substrate to form both thin-film and structural layers. As the substrate moves, the nanoparticles are sintered using a laser beam directed by the laser electrospray printhead onto the substrate.
Nozzle and additive manufacturing apparatus
A nozzle according to one embodiment has an inner surface and an outer surface, and is provided with a first passage through which an energy ray passes, and a second passage that is provided between the inner surface and the outer surface, and through which powder and fluid pass. The second passage includes a second open end on one end thereof in a first direction. A first surface that is one of the inner surface and the outer surface includes a first edge on one end thereof in the first direction. A second surface that is the other one of those includes a second edge on one end thereof in the first direction, and is distanced from the first edge toward the first direction. The fluid ejected from the second open end flows along the second surface, and separates at the second edge.
APPARATUS FOR THERMAL SENSING DURING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND METHODS THAT ACCOMPLISH THE SAME
An additive manufacturing apparatus includes a laser and a detection system. The laser emits a laser beam to heat a powder bed to form a melt pool, and the melt pool emits light proportional to a temperature of the melt pool. The detection system includes a spectral disperser and one of a) two or more on-axis sensors or b) a line scanner. The two or more on-axis sensors or the line scanner are/is located along an axis of the emitted light, the detection system receives the emitted light from the melt pool, and an intensity of the emitted light detected by the a) two or more on-axis sensors or the b) line scanner is compared with a blackbody spectral map at a particular wavelength of the emitted light to determine a temperature of the melt pool.
