MONITORING SYSTEM AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM
20220379383 · 2022-12-01 · ·

According to one embodiment, a monitoring system includes a collection device and a processing device. The collection device collects information of a solidified portion that is solidified in additive manufacturing. The additive manufacturing forms a plurality of layers by repeatedly melting and solidifying a metal powder. The processing device generates quality data of an existence or absence of a defect of the solidified portion by using the information to determine the existence or absence of the defect.

The present disclosure relates to a method of forming a component and at least one support structure joined to the component by additive layer manufacturing, wherein the support structure has a reduced density and/or increased porosity relative to the component. The method then comprises a subsequent heat treatment step at increased pressure on the component and support structure to separate the component and at least one support structure.

Powder Aluminum Material

This disclosure relates to the field of metallurgy, namely, to the composition of an aluminum-based heat-resistant alloy and a powder from it to be used for the production of parts using additive technologies. A new aluminum-based material has been created, which is intended for producing a powder and its utilisation in the additive production of various products, which has high processability at laser melting and high strength characteristics in the heat-treated state: the yield strength exceeding 400 MPa, the ultimate strength exceeding 470 MPa, and elongation at break of at least 4%. The powdered aluminum material contains copper, magnesium, manganese, cerium, silicon, zirconium and/or titanium, where the material contains thermally stable Al.sub.8Cu.sub.4Ce dispersoids with a size of less than 1 μm, which are formed at crystallisation rates of at least 10.sup.3 K/s, which contribute to the material strengthening under operating conditions at room and elevated temperatures.

Cupped contour for gas turbine engine blade assembly

A gas turbine engine assembly according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, an endwall having a first material composition, an airfoil extending in a radial direction from the endwall, and a cupped contour of a second material composition that is formed on the endwall to define a cooling chamber, the first material composition different than the second material composition. A method of forming an endwall is also disclosed.

Process for 3D printing

The present invention relates to a suspension comprising 50-95% by weight of the total suspension (w/w) of at least one metallic material and/or ceramic material and/or polymeric material and/or solid carbon containing material; and at least 5% by weight of the total suspension of one or more fatty acids or derivatives thereof. In addition, the invention relates to uses of such suspension in 3D printing processes.

Manufacturing method for hard-to-weld materials

A method of manufacturing a hard-to-weld material by a beam-assisted additive manufacturing process is presented. The method includes depositing a first layer for the material onto the substrate, the first layer including a major fraction of a base material for the component and a minor fraction of a solder, depositing a second layer of the base material for the component and a thermal treatment of the layer arrangement. The thermal treatment includes a first thermal cycle at a first temperature above 1200° C. for a duration of more than 3 hours, a subsequent second thermal cycle at a second temperature above 1000° C. for more than 2 hours, and a subsequent third thermal cycle and a third temperature above 700° C. for more than 12 hours. A manufactured component is also presented.

Dissolving metal supports in 3D printed metals and ceramics using sensitization

Systems and methods are disclosed for fabricating a metal or ceramic component using a 3D printer. An entire 3D printed piece, including both the metal or ceramic component and one or more support structures, is created of a first metal or ceramic material. A sensitization layer is applied to all or part of the 3D printed piece to chemically alter portions of the first metal or ceramic material near the surface making those portions of the material more sensitive to the etching process. The etching process causes the affected material to deplete and separates the component from the support structures without requiring mechanical machining.
