Grooving insert having rearwardly pointing arrowhead-shaped chip former
A cutting insert has a cutting edge formed at an intersection of a rake surface and a relief surface, with a chip-control arrangement located at the rake surface. The chip-control arrangement includes a depression that includes a depression declining surface that extends downwardly in a direction away from the major cutting edge. A chip deflecting surface located rearward of the depression is inclined upwardly in a direction away from the major cutting edge. A chip former includes an interposed projection that extends from the chip deflecting surface to the depression declining surface, and two lateral protuberances that extend from opposite sides of the interposed projection to the depression declining surface beyond a forwardmost portion of the interposed projection.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method for manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert may include an upper surface, a lower surface, a front cutting edge and a first lateral cutting edge. The upper surface may include a breaker protrusion. The first lateral cutting edge may include an inclined part which is closer to the lower surface as going away from the front cutting edge. The breaker protrusion may include a first region, a second region and a third region. The first region may be located further away from the lower surface than the inclined part. The second region may be located closer to the front cutting edge than the first region, and may be located closer to the lower surface than the inclined part. The third region may be located further away from the front cutting edge than the first region, and may be located closer to the lower surface than the inclined part.
PARTING BLADE AND TOOL HOLDER THEREFOR
A tool holder including a tool shank and a tool head connected to the tool shank. The tool head comprising an insert seat or a blade pocket. Adjacent to at least a portion of a shank side surface there is a reinforcement portion connecting the shank side surface and the tool head.
CUTTING-OFF PROCESSING TOOL
The upper surface includes a first breaker projection face extending along the first side surface, a second breaker projection face extending along the second side surface, and a rake face located between the first breaker projection face and the second breaker projection face in top view. In a direction from the rear surface to the front surface, a first front end of the first breaker projection face is located ahead of a second front end of the second breaker projection face. A cutting edge has a first cutting edge portion and a second cutting edge portion. In a direction perpendicular to the reference surface, the second breaker projection face is lower than the first breaker projection face, and a boundary between the first cutting edge portion and the second cutting edge portion is lower than the second breaker projection face.
CUTTING TOOL FOR BACK TURNING
Provided is a cutting tool for back turning capable of improving chipping resistance. A cutting tool wherein a wall surface of a chip breaker includes a first wall surface that is formed along a first ridgeline, and a reinforcing surface that is connected to the first wall surface and a first end surface at an end portion of the chip breaker on the side of a first cutting edge, and that forms an angle of 90 degrees or an obtuse angle with the first end surface.
CUTTING INSERT FOR BACK TURNING
Provided is a cutting insert that improves chip control performance. In a cutting insert for back turning process, a chip breaker wall face, of a chip breaker, facing the axial feed direction includes: when viewed from a first face side, a first wall face portion configured so that a ridgeline connecting a top portion of the chip breaker and the first wall face portion is a straight line; and a second wall face portion connected to the first wall face portion on a first cutting edge side and configured so that a ridgeline connecting the top portion of the chip breaker and the second wall face portion is closer to a second cutting edge side than the straight line.
CUTTING TOOLS AND TOOL HOLDERS FOR PIPE CUTTING FRAMES
Cutting tools and tool holders for pipe cutting frames are disclosed. Example cutting tools include a tool holder and a cutting insert removably securable in the tool holder. Example cutting inserts include: first and second side surfaces; first and second locating surfaces configured to locate the cutting insert in the tool holder between corresponding first and second clamping surfaces of the tool holder, wherein the first locating surface protrudes from the cutting insert with angled locating surfaces extending from the first locating surface to the first and second side surfaces, and the second locating surface comprising an indentation; front end and rear end surfaces; a rake surface, the rake surface and the front end surface forming a cutting edge; and an insert stop surface at a rear of the rake surface, extending from the rake surface to the first locating surface and the angled locating surfaces.
Cutting part and lathe
A cutting part (1) for a tool head (2) for a lathe (3) for machining a workpiece (4), having a cutting edge (5) for removing material from the workpiece (4) and having a rake face (6) for guiding away the removed material or cuttings. The problem of providing a cutting part (1) which can be realized in a simple manner and with which lead-free materials can also be machined is solved in that a flat structure (7) is formed in the rake face (6) of the cutting part (1) adjoining the cutting edge (5) for breaking the cuttings. A lathe (3) for machining a workpiece (4), having a tool head (2) is provided with at least one such cutting part (1).
CUTTING INSERT
The edge portion includes an upper surface, a side surface, and a land surface. The side surface has a front side surface and a pair of lateral side surfaces. An intersection between the land surface and the front side surface forms a front cutting edge. An intersection between the land surface and each of the pair of lateral side surfaces form a corresponding one of a pair of lateral cutting edges. The edge portion contains 80 vol % or more of diamond. A chip breaker recess is provided between the upper surface and the land surface. The surfaces forming the chip breaker recess include a rake face and a breaker wall surface. The upper surface has a front edge portion opposite to the front cutting edge from the chip breaker recess. A pair of protruding portions are provided to extend from the front edge portion toward the front cutting edge.
