Cutting insert for threading, tool body and cutting tool
A cutting insert for threading of the present invention includes two opposing end surfaces and a peripheral side surface extending therebetween. The peripheral side surface has a first side surface portion and a second side surface portion arranged at different positions in a circumferential direction. A cutting edge is formed at an intersecting ridgeline portion between the first end surface and the first side surface portion and at least a portion of this cutting edge has a shape corresponding to a thread groove. The second side surface portion has an inclined portion which enlarges outward from the side of the first end surface toward the side of the second end surface. This inclined portion is configured to engage with a side wall surface of a tool body so as to prevent floating of the cutting insert.
PORTABLE PIPE THREADER
A portable pipe threader includes a stand upon which a pipe is supported, a carriage supported by the stand, a spindle mounted to the carriage for clamping the pipe against rotation such that the pipe is stationary, a plurality of pipe threading tools coupled to the carriage and selectively operable to perform work on the pipe, a drive assembly including a plurality of brushless direct current (BLDC) motors. Each of the plurality of BLDC motors is mounted to one of the plurality of pipe threading tools and is operable to provide torque to a corresponding one of the plurality of pipe threading tools to rotate the corresponding one of the plurality of pipe threading tools relative to the pipe. A battery pack is supported by the stand and in selective electrical communication with the plurality of BLDC motors to provide electrical power to the plurality of motors.
Method for cutting a thread on a rotating workpiece
A method for cutting a thread on a rotating workpiece by means of a cutting tool having a cutting edge. The method includes sequentially performing a number of passes, each pass includes simultaneously moving the cutting tool and/or the workpiece relative to each other along and oscillating the cutting tool towards and away from workpiece rotational such that the cutting edge exits and enters the workpiece forming an air cut. The air cuts performed in a final pass are longer than all the other passes.
Cutting insert
Disclosed is a cutting insert having a generally polygonal primary body having a primary body base connected to an opposing and similarly-shaped body face through a plurality of primary flank portions extending there between. The cutting insert further includes at least one cutting protrusion extending away from at least one of the primary flank portions, and merging therewith. The cutting protrusion includes a rake face coplanar and extending away from the adjacent primary flank portions, and an edge portion extended towards a cutting flank portion. The cutting protrusion further includes a tip flat extending between a rake front from a protrusion tip towards a rake root portion, adjacent one of the primary flank portions.
THREAD TURNING CUTTING INSERT HAVING A CUTTING PORTION WITH THREE CUTTING TEETH AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool for thread cutting has a thread turning cutting insert releasably retained in an insert pocket by a fastening member. The thread turning cutting insert has a thread cutting portion having three spaced apart cutting teeth. and a chip forming groove recessed in an insert upper surface. The chip forming groove includes a near-flank groove surface close to the cutting teeth and far-flank grove surface further away from the cutting teeth. The thread cutting portion includes three cutting edges formed at the intersection of the insert upper surface and an insert peripheral surface. Each cutting edge is located on a respective cutting tooth. The thread cutting portion includes three planar land surfaces located on the insert upper surface. Each land surface extends from an entire length of a respective cutting edge to the near-flank groove surface.
Boring tool and cutting insert
A boring tool has a cutting insert, a holder, and a pressing member. The cutting insert includes a base member and a cutting member. The base member includes a first side surface, a second side surface, a third side surface, and a fourth side surface. The holder includes a front end surface, a rear end surface, and an outer peripheral surface. The holder is provided with a first hole and a second hole. The first hole is opened in the front end surface. The second hole is opened in the outer peripheral surface. The holder includes a stopper. A surface defining the second hole includes a first inner side surface and a second inner side surface. The pressing member is in contact with the fourth side surface in a state in which the pressing member is disposed in the first hole.
MODULAR CUTTING TOOL
What is provided is a modular cutting tool (1; 40) with a base body (2) extending along a tool axis and a tool head (3) connected via a positive coupling to the base body (2), wherein the positive coupling is formed from front toothings (4), which are engaged with one another, on the base body (2) and tool head (3), which each have a plurality of radially running teeth (5), which are distributed equidistantly around the tool axis. For each front toothing (4) the tip surfaces (7) of the teeth (5) lie on a virtual inner conical surface in the tool head (3) or base body (2) with the tool axis as cone axis, and the tip surfaces (7) of the teeth (5) are rounded concavely.
