TOOL BODY HAVING AN INNER INSERT RECEIVING POCKET WITH RESILIENT CLAMPING MEMBER, CUTTING TOOL AND CHAMFERING CUTTING INSERT THEREFOR
20180229315 · 2018-08-16 ·

A cutting tool includes a tool body having a peripherally disposed outer insert receiving pocket and an interiorly disposed inner insert receiving pocket with a cutting insert resiliently clamped therein. The tool body includes a through recess at least partially circumferentially bounded by a recess circumferential surface. A resilient clamping member extends into the through recess. The inner insert receiving pocket is formed by the resilient clamping member and a recess pocket portion of the recess circumferential surface. A chamfering cutting insert may be retained by the resilient clamping member, without the use of an additional, separate clamping device.

Parting blade and tool holder therefor

A tool holder includes a tool shank and a tool head connected to the tool shank. The tool head has a rear surface. An insert seat or a blade pocket is partially formed on both the tool head and the tool shank, and extends rearwardly of the tool head's rear surface. Adjacent to at least a portion of a shank side surface there is a reinforcement portion connecting the shank side surface and the tool head.

Tool for chip removing machining and an insert-holding blade as well as a key therefor

A parting tool is in the form of a blade and a replaceable cutting insert, as well as, a key having an eccentric body. The cutting insert may be clamped in a seat under an elastic, resilient clamping finger. In the blade, a keyhole is formed, into which the eccentric body can be inserted. In the keyhole, there are included concave sliding surfaces, which border on a flat stop surface. With these, convex corner surfaces and flat shoulder surfaces on the eccentric body can interact. By the unique design of the keyhole and eccentric body, a gentle interaction between the surfaces is obtained, which guarantees a long service life of the blade, as well as the key.

Clamping holder for cutting inserts has a rigid holding part and a clamping finger elastically movable with respect to the rigid holding part that define opposite sides of a substantially U-shaped recess for receiving a cutting insert. One of these two sides has first and second spaced-apart contact points for one side of a cutting insert and the opposite side has a third contact point. A stop for limiting the insertion depth of the cutting inset into the recess is provided inside the recess. That side of the cutting insert that has the third contact point is additionally assigned the stop, which is configured such that it simultaneously acts as a further, fourth lateral contact point opposite the first and second contact points and as a stop for limiting the insertion depth of the cutting insert.
