CUTTING INSERT AND MACHINING TOOL
A cutting insert for a machining tool having a cutting edge and a flute extending along the cutting edge is described. A chip breaker element which projects into the interior of the flute is disposed in the flute. Said chip breaker element comprises a chip guiding surface and each point of the chip guiding surface has a spacing from a flute contour that is greater than zero. The chip guiding surface furthermore either extends parallel to the flute contour and/or curved along two directions. A machining tool having such a cutting insert is presented as well.
Cutting tool and machining method
A cutting tool includes: a cutting part including a cutting edge having a linear shape; and a fitted part including a fixed section to which the cutting part is fixed, and a fitted part body to be fitted to a cutting device. The cutting edge is located perpendicularly to a virtual line passing through a central axis of the fitted part body, on a plane that is perpendicular to the central axis of the fitted part body. A center of the cutting edge in its longitudinal direction is located on the virtual line.

CUTTING TOOL
[Problem] A cutting tool to which a cutting insert can be firmly fixed is provided.
[Means for Resolution] Provided is a cutting tool where a replaceable cutting insert having a hole for fixing is mountable. The cutting tool includes a main body portion, a lever, a pin, and a screw. The main body portion has a placement surface where the cutting insert is placed, a side wall coming into contact with at least one side surface of the cutting insert, a lever accommodating hole, a pin accommodating hole, and a screw accommodating hole. The screw presses a rear end portion of the pin by being tightened. A tip portion of the pin presses the lever by the rear end portion being pressed against the screw. The lever has a concave surface configured by a line segment parallel to a reference axis and, by the concave surface being pressed against the tip portion of the pin, a head protruding into the hole of the placed cutting insert presses an inner wall of the hole and presses and fixes the cutting insert against and to the placement surface and the side wall.
CUTTING INSERTS WITH CONTROL CAVITIES
Cutting tool systems including a cutting tool and cutting inserts are disclosed. The cutting inserts have indexable cutting edges and seating face features which enable uniform facets along a portion of each cutting edge of the indexable insert. The first and second seating face surfaces of the cutting insert each comprise control cavities that adjoin the cutting edge facet surfaces. Each control cavity allows its corresponding cutting edge to have a facet width that is defined by the cavity to provide uniform surfaces. The control cavities reduce and limit the amount of the first and second seating face surfaces that need to be ground. Methods of making such cutting inserts are disclosed.
AERONAUTICAL COMPONENT MACHINING
An apparatus and corresponding method for machining at least one spline in an aeronautical component. The apparatus comprises a holder defining an axial direction about which the holder is moveable, and a cutting insert attachable to the holder. The apparatus further comprises a coupling for attaching the cutting insert to the holder about a second direction that is perpendicular to the axial direction of the holder. The holder may comprise a first alignment feature for orientating the cutting insert at a single orientation with respect to the holder. The cutting insert may comprise at least one cutting tooth, wherein each cutting tooth comprises a cutting edge. The cutting insert may comprise a first datum surface which is spaced from each cutting edge by a respective predetermined spacing.
CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING TOOL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT
A cutting insert may include an upper surface, a lower surface, a front lateral surface and a rear lateral surface. The upper surface may include a first upper cutting edge and an upper constraining surface. The lower surface may include a lower constraining surface. The lower constraining surface may include a lower groove. The lower groove may include a first region, a second region and a third region. The first region may be located on a side opposite to the upper constraining surface. A wedge angle of the first region may be a first angle, a wedge angle of the second region may be a second angle, and a wedge angle of the third region may be a third angle. The first angle may be smaller than each of the second angle and the third angle.
INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL INCLUDING SAME
An insert includes a base of a cermet including hard particles and a binder phase. The base includes first and second surfaces, a cutting edge on at least a part of a ridge line of the first and second surfaces, a third surface opposite to the first surface, and a through hole from the first surface to the third surface. An inner wall constituting the through hole includes a binder-phase-riched layer having a higher content of the binder phase than an inside of the base, at least in a center part. A thickness of the binder-phase-ricked layer in the center part is larger than a thickness of the binder-phase-ricked layer in an end part of the inner wall. A cutting tool includes a holder which has a pocket located at an end, the insert located in the pocket, and a clamp inserted in the through hole of the insert.
CLAMPING DEVICE AND CUTTING TOOL
A clamping device is configured to clamp a cutting insert onto a holder of a cutting tool. The clamping device contains a clamping bolt and a locking bolt, wherein the clamping bolt is configured to be inserted into each of the cutting insert and the holder. The locking bolt is configured to be inserted into the holder, such that the locking bolt pre-strains the clamping bolt into clamping the cutting insert onto the holder. The clamping bolt is configured rotatable about a longitudinal clamping axis of the clamping bolt relative to each of the cutting insert and the locking bolt, such that the clamping bolt wedge engages with the locking bolt during a clamping bolt rotation about the longitudinal clamping axis.
CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert is mountable on a body. The cutting insert includes: a top surface; a bottom surface opposite to the top surface; a side surface contiguous to the top surface and the bottom surface; and a cutting edge formed at a ridgeline between the top surface and the side surface. The side surface has a first surface disposed adjacent to the cutting edge and a second surface contiguous to the first surface. When viewed in a cross sectional view parallel to the bottom surface, the second surface has a first position and a second position that are brought into abutment with the body when mounted on the body. Between the first position and the second position, an imaginary straight line extending through the first position and the second position is separated from the second surface.
