An indexable cutting insert has a central mounting portion and two cutting portions. The central mounting portion has opposing upper and lower surfaces. The lower surface has two abutment elements associated therewith, each abutment element having two diverging abutment surfaces forming two abutment angles. The two cutting portions extend away from the central mounting portion, have distal cutting edges, and are entirely located in diagonally opposite imaginary quadrants of four quadrants defined by two mutually perpendicular quadrant planes. Two abutment bisector planes bisecting the two abutment angles and one of the quadrant planes are parallel or coincident. In a top view, the two cutting portions extend away from the central mounting portion in opposite directions. Two cutting bisector lines parallel to the two directions and bisecting the two cutting edges are mutually offset. A cutting tool has an insert holder and the cutting insert removably retained therein.

Improvements in tooling for machining systems that utilize machining fluids comprising a supercritical fluid are disclosed. In some embodiments a tool may include a plurality of orifices configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface of the tool. In other embodiments, a tool holder may include one or more outlets configured to direct a supercritical machining fluid towards a cutting interface. Moreover, some embodiments, may relate to machining systems including one or more venting channels configured to provide pressure relief for a cavity located behind a tool holder. Embodiments related to machine tools including upstream fluid restrictions for controlling a flow of supercritical machining fluid through a tool are also disclosed.

The at least three cutting heads comprise a first cutting head, a second cutting head, which in a peripheral direction directly follows the first cutting head, and a third cutting head, which in the peripheral direction directly follows the second cutting head. The cutting insert has a first support surface arranged on the first side, which first support surface runs orthogonal to the bore axis and at least partially surrounds the bore. The cutting insert is rotationally symmetric to the bore axis and mirror-symmetric to a center plane which runs perpendicular to the bore axis and divides the cutting insert into two equally sized halves. Viewed in a top view along the bore axis, an imaginary straight connecting line between the cutting edge of the first cutting head and the cutting edge of the third cutting head intersects neither the bore nor the first support surface.
