HOLE SAW ALIGNMENT GUIDE
20190091776 · 2019-03-28 ·

A hole saw alignment guide for enlarging a hole in an object to provide a larger diameter hole in the object. The hole saw guide includes a first cylindrical part having a first end adapted to the size of, and adapted to be inserted into, the hole that is to be enlarged. The hole saw guide also has a second cylindrical part integral with the second end of the first cylindrical part. The hole saw guide is adapted to receive over the outer surface of the first cylindrical part a toothed end of a hole saw sized to provide the larger diameter hole. The second cylindrical part is adapted to extend into an arbor of the hole saw and to be secured to the arbor for rotation with the hole saw. The arbor of the hole saw is adapted to be received in a drill chuck.

This invention provides the means for construction crews to easily drill through multiple beams or soffits with the use of a hole saw that is coupled to a first drive cup using a coupling arbor. The first drive cup is attached to a first end of an extension tube and is secured using self-tapping screws. A second drive cup is attached to a second end of the extension tube with self-tapping screws where a drive coupling arbor provides a hexagonal shank that is attached to a drive device, such as a hammer drill or standard drill. When activated the rotational motion allows the hole saw to cut through the beams or soffits. A pilot bit is provided to guide the hole saw into the beams or soffits when in use.

DRYWALL REPAIR KIT AND METHOD

A repair kit for repairing a damaged area of a workpiece includes an arbor and a cutting member. The cutting member is removably coupled to the arbor and includes a side wall that has a first end and a second end. An end cap is coupled to the first end and abuts an abutment surface of the arbor. A plurality of cutting elements is coupled to the second end of the side wall, and a retention feature extends outwardly from the side wall. The cutting member is rotatable by the arbor to cut a hole in the workpiece. The retention feature is configured to engage the workpiece as the cutting member cuts the hole to secure the cutting member within the hole. The arbor is removable from the cutting member while the retention feature engages the workpiece to leave the cutting member in the workpiece to plug the hole.

Drywall repair kit and method

A method to repair a damaged area of a workpiece with a repair kit includes rotating an arbor to drive a cutting member about a central axis of the arbor, cutting a hole in the workpiece with the cutting member, engaging the workpiece with the cutting member as the hole is cut to secure the cutting member within the hole, disconnecting the arbor from the cutting member, and leaving the cutting member in the workpiece to plug the hole.
