DRILL INSERT AND INDEXABLE DRILL
Provided is a drill insert to ensure sufficient chipping resistance with respect to a large cutting load, which is detachably attached to a distal portion of a drill body which is rotated around an axis, in which a polygon face of a polygonal plate-shaped insert body is a rake face, a side face disposed around the rake face is a flank face, a cutting blade is formed on a ridge portion in which the rake face and the flank face intersect each other, the cutting blade includes a honing face, the honing face includes a first convex curved face continuous with the rake face and a second convex curved face continuous with the flank face, and in a cross section orthogonal to the cutting blade, a curvature radius of the first convex curved face is larger than a curvature radius of the second convex curved face.
VARIABLE FUNCTIONAL EDGE PREPARATION
A cutting insert comprising a variable function cutting edge wherein said cutting edge has a variable cutting edge height along a length of said cutting edge. This invention further provides a cutting insert comprising a cutting edge having a nose and a depth of cut location, and wherein the cutting edge has a generalized first height, and wherein the cutting edge of the depth of cut location has a second height, and wherein the cutting edge of the nose has a third height, and wherein the second height of the cutting edge of the depth of cut location is smaller than the third height of the cutting edge of the nose of the cutting insert.
CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert includes a first side cutting edge formed at an edge portion where a first side surface, which is one of the side surfaces, meets an upper surface or a lower surface; a second side cutting edge formed at an edge portion where a second side surface, which is one of the side surfaces, meets the upper surface or the lower surface; and a corner cutting edge located between the first and second side cutting edges and having one end continuous with the first side cutting edge and the other end continuous with the second side cutting edge, the corner cutting edge having a part whose height is constant and a part whose height changes continuously relative to a horizontal plane together.
TURNING CUTTING INSERT WITH CORNER CUTTING PORTION HAVING REDUCED NOSE ANGLE AND TURNING TOOL
A cutting tool has an insert holder and a cutting insert releasably attached thereto. The cutting insert has an insert edge which includes two nose cutting edges and a convex corner cutting edge which extends therebetween. The two nose cutting edges form a nose angle. The insert edge also includes two mid-side edges which are located further from the corner cutting edge than the nose cutting edges. The two mid-side edges form a mid-side angle. The nose angle is less than the mid-side angle.
Method of treating a cutting tool, and a cutting tool
The present disclosure relates to a method of treating a cutting tool of a cemented carbide or cermet substrate, wherein the cutting tool is subjected to shot peening at a temperature of or above 100 C. The cutting tool typically has a rake face, a flank face and a cutting edge extending therebetween. The shot peening is performed at least on the rake face of the cutting tool. The present disclosure also relates to a cutting tool treated with the method.
Cutting element and the use thereof
A cutting element, which is configured for the machining of a non-metallic composite material composed of a matrix and particles held together by the matrix, has a flank face, a rake face and a cutting edge which is coated with an edge coating and via which the flank face and the rake face are connected to one another, with which the non-metallic composite material can be machined in an improved fashion. The cutting edge within a cutting edge section thereof is curved in such a way that the cutting edge immediately beneath the edge coating in a section in a section plane that is perpendicular to the cutting edge has, at every point of the cutting edge section, a local radius of curvature which is greater than or equal to 10 m and less than or equal to 80 m.
