The at least one cutting lip includes at least one cutting protrusion and associated chip cutting edge to split the chip formed by the at least one cutting edge, for producing chips during machining which are of a width that is sufficiently reduced to allow proper evacuation or removal.
Step drill
The invention relates to a step drill having a shaft section extending along a longitudinal axis of the step drill and a cutting section with a cutting tip, and having a chip-breaking geometry which comprises a concavely curved surface and is configured such that ribbon chips are broken on the concavely curved surface during rotation of the step drill, whereby the chip-breaking geometry is disposed on a reaming step of the step drill.
ROTATABLE CUTTING HEAD HAVING TORQUE TRANSMISSION SURFACES ON A MOUNTING PROTUBERANCE AND ROTARY CUTTING TOOL
A cutting head rotatable about a head axis has a cap portion and a mounting protuberance joined thereto. The cap portion has N cutting portions circumferentially alternating with N head flutes. The mounting protuberance has N circumferentially spaced apart engagement portions, each including a radially outward facing clamping surface and a torque transmission surface. In a cross-section taken in a head plane perpendicular to the head axis, a first imaginary circle having a first diameter circumscribes the N clamping surfaces, and N radially outermost torque points of the N torque transmission surfaces define a second imaginary circle having a second diameter. The second diameter is greater than ninety percent of the first diameter. A rotary cutting tool includes a tool shank extending along a shank axis and a head receiving pocket at a forward end thereof, and the cutting head is releasably secured in the head receiving pocket.
ROTARY TOOL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT
A rotary tool may include a base. The base may be extended from a first end to a second end. The base may include a first part and a second part. The first part may include the first end. The second part may have a larger outer diameter than the first part. The first part may include a first flute. The second part may include a second flute. In a first cross section of the first part, the first flute may include a first bottom part. A center of a first imaginary circle overlapping with the first bottom part may be located outside a circumscribed circle of the first part. In a second cross section of the second part, the second flute may include a second bottom part. A center of the second imaginary circle overlapping with the second bottom part may be located inside a circumscribed circle of the second part.
Method for manufacturing sintered component, sintered component, and drill
Provided is a method for manufacturing a sintered component, which can suppress occurrence of edge chipping when a through-hole is formed in a powder-compact green body and also has a good productivity. The method for manufacturing a sintered component includes a molding step of press-molding a raw material powder containing a metal powder and thus fabricating a powder-compact green body; a drilling step of forming a hole in the powder-compact green body using a drill; a sintering step of sintering the powder-compact green body after drilling, wherein the drill used for drilling has a circular-arc shaped cutting edge on a point portion thereof.
Auger
An auger includes a body having a first end, a second end, a stem that defines an axis of rotation, and a flute helically wrapped around the stem. The auger also includes a shank at the first end of the body and a cutting head at the second end of the body. The cutting head includes a cutting edge, a cutting face adjacent the cutting edge, and a back taper surface extending from the cutting edge in a direction opposite the cutting face. The back taper surface defines a back taper angle between an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation and the back taper surface. The back taper angle is a non-zero angle. The cutting head further includes a feed screw extending from the stem along. The feed screw includes a thread having a pitch and a depth. The pitch is larger than the depth of the thread.
MACHINING SYSTEM AND CUTTING INSERT AND METHODS
There is provided a machining assembly and cutting insert for machining metal or like workpieces, wherein the cutting insert body has a cutting end. The cutting end comprises at least one cutting edge and at least one cutting lip formed adjacent the at least one cutting edge. The at least one cutting lip includes at least one cutting protrusion and associated chip cutting edge to split the chip formed by the at least one cutting edge, for producing chips during machining which are of a width that is sufficiently reduced to allow proper evacuation or removal.
ANNULAR HOLE CUTTER
An annular hole cutter includes a cutter body having cutting teeth and a plurality of flutes extending from the cutting teeth around a side wall between a first and second end, with the flutes separated from each other by a land. The hole cutter includes side walls defining primary and secondary flutes with each one of the primary flutes defining first and second helix angles, and with each one of the secondary flutes defining a third helix angle and a fourth helix angle, with the second helix angle being greater than the first helix angle.
ROTARY CUTTING TOOL HAVING CHIP SPACE IN PROPORTION TO FEED-PER-TOOTH
A rotary cutting tool that implements a chip space in proportion to a feed-per-tooth is proposed. The rotary cutting tool includes a cutting part in which a plurality of cutting teeth and flutes are alternately formed, wherein a cross-section of the cutting part perpendicular to a central axis is divided into a plurality of cutting tooth spaces defining a section between cutting edges of adjacent cutting teeth on the basis of the central axis, such that all of the cutting tooth spaces are designed in different sizes, or some of the plurality of cutting tooth spaces are set in different sizes from the other cutting tooth spaces.
