CUTTING INSERT AND FACE MILLING CUTTER
A cutting insert comprising a cutting edge formed by an intersection ridge between a rake face and a side face, the cutting edge including a major cutting edge, a flat cutting edge, and a chamfer edge disposed between the major cutting edge and the flat cutting edge, wherein in a direct view of a side face near the flat cutting edge, a ratio of installation area length L2 of the chamfer edge to installation area length L3 of the major cutting edge is L2:L3=2:8 to 5:5, and inclination angle .sub.1 of the chamfer edge with respect to the flat cutting edge and inclination angle .sub.2 of the major cutting edge with respect to the flat cutting edge are set to have a relationship of .sub.1<.sub.2.
Milling tool and cutting element for a milling tool
A milling tool for working non-metal materials, in particular wood, engineered wood, and plastic, includes a carrier body, a plurality of cutting elements, which can be inserted into said body on the periphery in a corresponding number of openings extending in the radial direction and can be screwed to the carrier body by way of a bore and which have a plate-shaped and in the cross-section a substantially triangular-shaped design and on a side edge are provided with a blade. The cutting element includes: the region located opposite of the blade is rounded, a groove extending substantially at a right angle to the blade is provided in the bottom, the bore divides the groove preferably into two regions. The opening includes: a web, which extends radially upward from the bottom of the opening serving as a support surface for the cutting element and which corresponds with the groove, a radial threaded bore, which preferably divides the web into two regions, and the cutting element has contact with the opening only with the bottom thereof, a side wall of the groove and part of the region located opposite of the blade.
Cutting insert with elliptical cutting edge
A cutting insert for a cutting tool is described. The cutting insert includes a front surface, a generally planar rear surface opposite the front surface, a generally planar first end surface, a generally planar second end surface opposite the first end surface, a generally planar first side surface, a generally planar second side surface opposite the first side surface. The front surface is continuously convex extending entirely between the first and second surfaces and entirely between the first and second side surfaces. At least one end surface is formed with a clearance angle (A1, A2, A3) to produce a cutting edge that is elliptical in shape having a relatively small depth-of-cut (DOC) to produce an extremely fine finish on a workpiece.
ROTARY CUTTING TOOL WITH REGRINDABLE CUTTING INSERTS
A rotary cutting tool includes a cutter body having a plurality of insert-receiving pockets. Each pocket includes a bottom support surface, an axial support surface, a radial support surface, a top clearance surface and an intermediate clearance surface extending between the axial support surface and the top clearance surface. A cutting insert includes a helical top surface, a helical side surface, a side surface opposite the helical side surface, a pair of opposed side walls, a bottom surface, and a cutting edge formed at an intersection between the helical top surface and the helical side surface. The cutting insert further includes an undercut for accommodating the axial support surface, the top clearance surface and the intermediate clearance surface of the pocket when the cutting insert is mounted in the pocket.
CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING TOOL, AND METHOD OF PRODUCING MACHINED PRODUCT
A cutting insert according to one embodiment includes upper and lower surfaces, a side surface including a front side surface, a rear side surface, and a pair of horizontal side surfaces, a first cutting edge, a second cutting edge, and a through hole extending from the upper surface to the lower surface. An opening of the through hole on a side of the upper surface is provided closer to a ridge line where the upper surface and the front side surface intersect each other than a ridge line where the upper surface and the rear side surface intersect each other. An opening of the through hole on a side of the lower surface is provided closer to a ridge line where the lower surface and the rear side surface intersect each other than a ridge line where the lower surface and the front side surface intersect each other.
