A first step portion rising from the third rake surface portion and continuous with the first rake surface portion is provided on the rake surface.
DOUBLE-SIDED CUTTING INSERT HAVING DIAGONALLY OPPOSED RAISED CORNERS AND DIAGONALLY OPPOSED LOWERED CORNERS, AND ROTARY CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert has two opposing end surfaces interconnected by a peripheral side surface, the peripheral side surface having two major side surfaces and two minor side surfaces. Major edges are formed at the intersection of the major side surfaces and the end surfaces. Each end surface has two diagonally opposed raised corners and two diagonally opposed lowered corners with respect to a median plane, each raised corner adjoining one of the major edges at a first major point and each lowered corner adjoining one of the major edges at a third major point. In a major side view, each major edge has an associated first imaginary straight line containing its first and third major points, and an elevated edge portion located on one side of the first imaginary straight line. The cutting insert is removably secured in a rotary cutting tool.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert includes a main body including a first face, a second face, and a third face. The second face includes a rake face. Among the outer-peripheral sides of the second face, the boundary portion with the first face is a main cutting edge. When viewed from the side where the first face is disposed, the main cutting edge includes a first straight portion, a second straight portion, and a curved portion. The first straight portion is located adjacent to a reference side. The second straight portion is arranged at a distance from the first straight portion. The curved portion connects the first straight portion and the second straight portion. A first intersection angle of the first straight portion with respect to the reference side is different from a second intersection angle of the second straight portion with respect to the reference side.
Indexable single-sided cutting insert with means for preventing improper mounting of the insert, and cutting tool including such an insert
A cutting insert includes a rake end surface having four corners and, in a center thereof, a central surface portion. A supporting end surface has four corners and, in a center thereof, a central supporting surface portion. A peripheral side surface extends between the rake end surface and the supporting end surface. The peripheral side surface includes two opposing major side surfaces. A hole extends through the cutting insert from one of the major side surfaces to the other of the major side surfaces, wherein the central surface portion is disposed at a greater distance from a central axis (A) of the hole than is the central supporting surface portion. The single-sided cutting insert has a corner radii or cutting edge radii that extend over at least a quarter of a width of the cutting insert.
LAND PREPARATION TOOLS
A land preparation tool includes a tool body having a cutting surface, mounting surfaces disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface, and opposing side surfaces each extending between the cutting surface and a different one of the mounting surfaces. One mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of a side surface toward the tool body. Another mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of the other side surface toward the tool body. An opening is disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface and between the mounting surfaces. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
MACHINE FOR LAND CLEARING AND PREPARATION
A land preparation machine includes a land preparation apparatus connected to a lift assembly of a vehicle. The land preparation apparatus has a rotatable drum and a plurality of tools assemblies disposed thereon. A tool assembly of the plurality of tool assemblies includes a tool holder and a tool attached thereto. The tool includes a tool body having a cutting surface disposed on a side of the tool body, an apex disposed on a different side of the tool body opposite the cutting surface, and tool mounting surfaces disposed on the side of the tool body opposite the cutting surface. One tool mounting surface extends outwardly from the apex at an angle toward the cutting surface. Another tool mounting surface extends outwardly from the apex, opposite the other tool mounting surface, at an angle toward the cutting surface. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
CUTTING INSERT AND TOOL FOR MACHINING A WORKPIECE
