Indexable cutting insert for a milling tool
An indexable and double-sided round cutting insert includes an upper and lower side. A center axis extends between the upper and lower side and a median plane extends perpendicular to the center axis and is situated halfway between the upper and lower side. A side surface has an upper and lower positive clearance surface at an upper positive clearance angle with respect to an upper cutting edge and a lower positive clearance angle with respect to a lower cutting edge. A plurality of protrusions extends along the side surface and protrude in a radial direction perpendicular to the center axis. Each protrusion includes an outer surface, which along the center axis, extends such that a first radial distance from the center axis to the outer surface in the median plane is at least equal to or greater than a second radial distance from the center axis to the outer surface.
High-feed cutting insert and cutting tool equipped with same
The present disclosure's technical object is to provide a high feed cutting insert capable of providing a sufficient entering angle while ensuring rigidity of a cutting tool's bottom part. For this, the high feed cutting insert of the present disclosure comprises a short cutting edge provided on a boundary portion between a main surface and a short side surface, a long cutting edge provided on a boundary portion between the main surface and a long side surface, two ascending corner cutting edges connecting the short cutting edge and the long cutting edge, and placed on one diagonal position, and two descending corner cutting edges placed on the other diagonal position and having the height lower than that of the ascending corner cutting edges, wherein the short cutting edge and the long cutting edge, when viewed towards the main surface, form an obtuse angle while the ascending corner cutting edges are interposed therebetween and form an acute angle while the descending corner cutting edges are interposed therebetween.

A cutting insert has an insert major body which includes two hexagonal faces facing each other and six side faces arranged around the two hexagonal faces, and is rotationally symmetrical at 120° intervals about an insert center line passing through centers of the two hexagonal faces and inversely symmetrical in front and back with respect to the two hexagonal faces, wherein a major cutting edge and an minor cutting edge are alternately formed in a circumferential direction in the single hexagonal face at twelve intersecting ridgeline portions at which the hexagonal faces and the side faces intersect, the major cutting edge is formed to be located at an intersecting ridgeline portion with one hexagonal face while the minor cutting edge is formed to be located at an intersecting ridgeline portion with the other hexagonal face at a single side face.
CUTTING INSERT
Provided is a cutting insert, which has excellent chip discharge performance even when formed with multiple corners superior in economic efficiency. A first ridgeline at which an upper surface and a circumferential side surface intersect each other includes a plurality of corners disposed at equal intervals and a plurality of main cutting edges disposed one by one between the corners adjacent to each other. A distance between the corners adjacent to each other is equal to or less than 60% of the diameter of a circle inscribed within the ridgeline. The main cutting edges includes a first cutting edge that is linearly formed and a second cutting edge that is linearly formed. The length of the second cutting edge is equal to or less than half the length of the first cutting edge and is positioned closer to a center side of the cutting insert than an extension line of the first cutting edge is. The circumferential side surface includes a first side surface facing the first cutting edge and a second side surface facing the second cutting edge. A clearance angle of the first side surface is smaller than that of the second side surface.
CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING EDGE-REPLACEABLE ROTARY CUTTING TOOL AND ROTARY CUTTING METHOD
A cutting insert has a plate shape centered on an insert center axis. The cutting insert includes a front surface and a back surface facing an insert axial direction, an outer peripheral surface facing outward in an insert radial direction, and a cutting edge at an intersecting ridge line between the front surface and the outer peripheral surface. The back surface has a flat shape perpendicular to the insert center axis. The outer peripheral surface includes a flank surface coupled. The flank surface is inclined inward in the insert radial direction as extending in the insert axial direction from the front surface side to the back surface side. The front surface includes a rake surface. The rake surface is inclined from a back surface side to a front surface side in the insert axial direction as extending inward in the insert radial direction from the cutting edge.
CUTTING INSERT AND SHOULDER MILLNG TOOL
A cutting insert and a shoulder milling tool are disclosed. The cutting insert includes a surface-wiping secondary cutting edge inclined in relation to a median plane of the cutting insert, such that a distance to the median plane decreases in a direction toward a corner cutting edge. A circumferential surface includes a clearance surface extending along a main cutting edge. The clearance surface along the main cutting edge extends at an acute angle to the median plane, such that the clearance surface forms a negative nominal clearance angle, and wherein the circumferential surface includes first and second abutment surfaces configured for abutment against axial and/or radial support surfaces of the milling tool, the abutment surfaces extending along at least part of the main cutting edge and the surface-wiping secondary cutting edge.
CUTTING INSERT AND MILLING TOOL
A cutting insert for a milling tool is provided. A median plane extends through the cutting insert. A longitudinal plane extends perpendicularly to the median plane. In a view towards a first side surface, a first axial relief face and a first axial abutment face form part of a first surface grouping on a first side of the longitudinal plane. In a view towards a second side surface, a second axial relief face and a second axial abutment face form part of a second surface grouping on the first side of the longitudinal plane. The first axial abutment face forms a substantially flat surface. The first axial abutment face extends perpendicularly to the median plane. The second axial abutment face forms a substantially flat surface. The second axial abutment face extends perpendicularly to the median plane.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING SAME
A cutting insert includes: an upper face including a virtual reference surface and an upper inclined surface extending to be inclined upward from the virtual reference surface; a lower face disposed below the upper face and including a lower inclined surface extending to be inclined with respect to the virtual reference surface; and a plurality of side faces connecting the upper face and the lower face. An insert bore is formed to penetrate through the upper face and the lower face along a central axis perpendicular to the virtual reference surface. A major cutting edge is formed at an edge at which the upper inclined surface meets any one side face among the plurality of side faces. A first angle between the side face, on which the major cutting edge is formed, and the upper inclined surface is greater than a second angle between the central axis and the lower inclined surface.
CUTTING INSERT
A cutting insert 2 comprises a peripheral side surface 30 which is parallel to a central axis O of a first end surface 10 and a second end surface 20. The peripheral side surface 30 comprises a first side surface 31 facing a first major cutting edge 11, a second side surface 32 facing a first wiper edge 12, and a third side surface 33 facing a first inner edge 13. A flank 311 of the first major cutting edge 11 and a flank 321 of the first wiper edge 12 are inclined such that the flank 311 and 321 approaches the central axis O as it heads toward the first end surface 10. The flank 311 of the first major cutting edge 11 is located on a different plane from the first side surface 31. The flank 321 of the first wiper edge 12 is located on a different plane from the second side surface 32. Meanwhile, a flank of the first inner edge 13 is located on the same plane as the third side surface 33.

A single-sided four-way indexable cutting insert includes a positive basic shape, a rake surface, a peripheral surface including four side abutment surfaces, a base bearing surface and a screw hole connecting the rake and base bearing surfaces. The insert has an imaginary square frustum which defines a square base containing the cutting insert's base bearing surface, and further defines four isosceles trapezoid side surfaces respectively containing the cutting insert's four side abutment surfaces.
