Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of producing machined product using the same
In a cutting insert according to an embodiment of the present invention, an upper surface sequentially includes a first rake surface and a second rake surface. The first rake surface being inclined toward the lower surface as going inward from the cutting edge at a first rake angle on a basis of a perpendicular plane perpendicular to a central axis extending between the upper surface and a lower surface. The second rake surface is located more inward than the first rake surface and is inclined toward the lower surface at a second rake angle different from the first rake angle on the basis of the perpendicular plane. An intersecting part of the first rake surface and the second rake surface includes a protruded part located at a highest position in a region of the intersecting part along the second side surface. A cutting tool with the cutting insert, and a method of producing a machined product by using the cutting tool are also provided.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert of the present disclosure includes a first surface, a second surface, and a cutting edge. The first surface includes a corner part, and a first side and a second side each extending from the corner part. The second surface connects to the first surface. The cutting edge is located at a region where the first surface intersects with the second surface. The cutting edge includes a first cutting edge located at the first side, a second cutting edge located at the second side, and a third cutting edge located at the corner part. The first cutting edge and the third cutting edge are provided with a honing. A honing width of a side of the second cutting edge in the third cutting edge decreases as going away from the first cutting edge and then approaching the second cutting edge.
INDEXABLE CUTTING INSERT FOR A MILLING TOOL
An indexable and double-sided round cutting insert includes an upper and lower side. A center axis extends between the upper and lower side and a median plane extends perpendicular to the center axis and is situated halfway between the upper and lower side. A side surface has an upper and lower positive clearance surface at an upper positive clearance angle with respect to an upper cutting edge and a lower positive clearance angle with respect to a lower cutting edge. A plurality of protrusions extends along the side surface and protrude in a radial direction perpendicular to the center axis. Each protrusion includes an outer surface, which along the center axis, extends such that a first radial distance from the center axis to the outer surface in the median plane is at least equal to or greater than a second radial distance from the center axis to the outer surface.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert of an embodiment includes an upper surface including a first upper cutting edge and a second upper cutting edge, a lower surface including a first lower cutting edge and a second lower cutting edge, and a side surface. The side surface includes a first surface extending from the second upper cutting edge, a second surface extending from the first lower cutting edge, a third surface extending from the first upper cutting edge, and a fourth surface extending from the second lower cutting edge. The first surface and the fourth surface are parallel to a central axis. The second surface is inclined so as to depart from the central axis as going from the lower surface toward the upper surface. The third surface is inclined so as to depart from the central axis as going from the upper surface toward the lower surface.
METAL CUTTING INSERT FOR MILLING
A reversible cutting insert for milling including opposing and identically or substantially identically top and bottom surfaces interconnected by a continuous peripheral side surface, with a median plane located between the top and bottom surfaces and intersecting the side surface, and an insert axis perpendicular to the median plane about which the cutting insert is indexable. Each top and bottom surface is limited by a circumferential cutting edge intersecting the side surface, the circumferential cutting edge in a top view having the shape of a truncated equilateral triangle. Each circumferential cutting edge includes three analogous sets of cutting edges exhibiting three-fold rotational symmetry about the insert axis. A first cutting edge portion intersects a first support plane.
Milling cutter
A milling cutting insert has a substantially triangular shape. The cutting insert contains a top side, an underside, and circumferential side surfaces extending between the top side and the underside. Cutting edges are formed at the transition of the circumferential side surfaces to the top side and/or the underside. On the circumferential side surfaces at least two discrete planar abutment surfaces are formed for positioning the cutting insert in a tool holder. The at least two discrete planar abutment surfaces are inclined with respect to each other at an outer angle of between 190 and 220 and the abutment surfaces are spaced from each other with respect to the circumferential direction of the cutting insert.
Tangentially mounted indexable cutting insert with segmented cutting edge and triangular-shaped margin
A cutting insert having two opposing end surfaces, two identical opposing major side surfaces and two identical opposing minor side surfaces. Each end surface has four corners with two lowered corners and two raised corners, the two lowered corners being diagonally opposite each other, the two raised corners being diagonally opposite each other. The cutting insert also includes a major cutting edge formed at an intersection of each major edge and the end surface. A first section of the major cutting edge proximate the raised corner constitutes a leading end of the major cutting edge, and a second section of the major cutting edge proximate the lowered corner constitutes a trailing end of the major cutting edge. An angled margin only partially extends along the leading end of the major cutting edge and segments the major cutting edge.
