A first major cutting edge is formed on the outer edge of the first end face. A first flank facing the first major cutting edge is formed between the first major cutting edge and the peripheral side surface and has a negative clearance angle α with respect to the peripheral side surface. The peripheral side surface includes a first side surface facing the first flank. Between the first flank and the first side surface, a recess line is formed to extend along a virtual edge line where a virtual plane extending from the first flank and a virtual plane extending from the first side surface cross each other, and the recess line is formed with a notch on the virtual edge line.
TOOL BODY OF CUTTING TOOL FOR INDEXABLE INSERTS, AND ROUND MILLING INSERT
Provided are a tool body of a cutting tool for indexable inserts and a round milling insert that are configured not to cause floating or rattling when the round milling insert is mounted, by keeping the contact part between the round milling insert and the tool body at a predetermined part. The tool body includes a recessed portion provided so that only one of a plurality of protrusions is fitted thereto, the plurality of protrusions being formed in the round milling insert so as to protrude in the radial direction, wherein the recessed portion has both inner surfaces thereof formed of curved surfaces in such a manner that the distance therebetween gradually decreases toward a depth portion, at the contact area between the recessed portion and said protrusion fitted thereto out of the plurality of protrusions. The round milling insert mounted onto such tool body includes a plurality of protrusions formed so as to protrude in the radial direction, any of the plurality of protrusions being able to be fitted into a recessed portion provided on a mounting seat of the tool body, wherein each of the protrusions has both outer surfaces thereof formed of curved surfaces in such a manner that the distance therebetween gradually decreases toward a tip of the protrusion, at the contact area between the protrusion and the recessed portion into which the protrusion is fitted.
ROUND CUTTING INSERT FOR A MILLING TOOL
A round cutting insert for a milling tool having a center axis and a neutral plane extending perpendicularly thereto. The round cutting insert includes a circumferential side surface surrounding the center axis between upper and lower round main surfaces. An upper cutting edge is formed along the intersection of the upper round main surface and the side surface. A plurality of elongated support grooves are arranged in the side surface. Each elongated support groove has a bottom surface extending in a lengthwise direction with opposite flank surfaces converging toward the bottom surface and extending in parallel with the lengthwise direction of the elongated support groove. The lengthwise direction of each elongated support groove forms an acute angle with the neutral plane as seen in a side view. At least one of the opposite flank surfaces of each elongated support groove is configured as a side support surface.
High-feed cutting insert and cutting tool equipped with same
The present disclosure's technical object is to provide a high feed cutting insert capable of providing a sufficient entering angle while ensuring rigidity of a cutting tool's bottom part. For this, the high feed cutting insert of the present disclosure comprises a short cutting edge provided on a boundary portion between a main surface and a short side surface, a long cutting edge provided on a boundary portion between the main surface and a long side surface, two ascending corner cutting edges connecting the short cutting edge and the long cutting edge, and placed on one diagonal position, and two descending corner cutting edges placed on the other diagonal position and having the height lower than that of the ascending corner cutting edges, wherein the short cutting edge and the long cutting edge, when viewed towards the main surface, form an obtuse angle while the ascending corner cutting edges are interposed therebetween and form an acute angle while the descending corner cutting edges are interposed therebetween.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING SAME
A cutting insert includes: an upper face including a virtual reference surface and an upper inclined surface extending to be inclined upward from the virtual reference surface; a lower face disposed below the upper face and including a lower inclined surface extending to be inclined with respect to the virtual reference surface; and a plurality of side faces connecting the upper face and the lower face. An insert bore is formed to penetrate through the upper face and the lower face along a central axis perpendicular to the virtual reference surface. A major cutting edge is formed at an edge at which the upper inclined surface meets any one side face among the plurality of side faces. A first angle between the side face, on which the major cutting edge is formed, and the upper inclined surface is greater than a second angle between the central axis and the lower inclined surface.
