A rotary cutting tool is provided which, although it has a simple configuration, allows the arrangement of each cutting edge to be easily adjusted. A first cartridge mounting seat has an upper wall surface opposing an outer side surface of a cartridge and further has a first recessed part into which a protrusion is inserted and which comes into contact, at a bottom thereof, with a leading end of the protrusion. A second cartridge mounting seat has an upper wall surface opposing an outer side surface of a cartridge and further has a second recessed part into which a protrusion is inserted and which comes into contact, at a bottom thereof, with a leading end of the protrusion. A depth of the second recessed part is greater than a depth of the first recessed part. An amount of protrusion P of the protrusion is equal to or greater than the depth of the second recessed part.

Insert, tool holder, and assembly thereof

A technical object of the present disclosure is to provide an insert, which can maintain rigidity thereof regardless of a clearance angle of a clearance surface that forms a circular cutting edge. To this end, the insert according to the present disclosure includes a circular upper surface, a circular lower surface, and a clearance surface portion connecting the upper surface and the lower surface. The clearance surface portion is divided into first and second clearance surfaces along a circumference thereof, by a first wave line that forms a waveform of valleys facing the lower surface and mounts facing the upper surface.

Indexable cutting insert and milling tool

An indexable cutting insert for face milling with high feed rates has: an upper side, a lower side with a smaller outer circumference than the upper side, and side surfaces connecting the upper and lower sides. Rounded cutting corners are formed at the transition between the side surfaces and the upper side. The cutting corners are connected via convexly arched cutting edges, each running convexly curved from one cutting corner to an adjacent cutting corner. Adjacent the cutting edges, the side surfaces have main flanks extending along the respective cutting edge in a continuously convexly curved manner from one cutting corner to an adjacent cutting corner. The main flanks extend in the direction of the lower side only over part of the height of the side surfaces and merge in a stepped manner into secondary surfaces which are set back inward.

A cutting insert has top and bottom surfaces opposing each other and a side surface connecting them. A part of an intersecting ridge between the top and side surfaces functions as a cutting edge. On the side surface, a side surface portion adjacent to the intersecting ridge portion opposing the cutting edge intersects the top surface at an acute angle. At least on a part of a bottom surface, an inclined surface gradually approaching the top surface with increasing distance from a side surface portion on a side opposite to a cutting edge is formed. This allows a part of the cutting resistance to act on the side surface portion. As a result, friction resistance between the side surface portion and the side surface of an insert seat becomes larger, thereby suppressing a shifting of the cutting insert when cutting.

TOOL, A CUTTING INSERT AND A COMPACTED POWDER PART
20180243844 · 2018-08-30 ·

A tool for chip-removing machining including a tool body and at least one cutting insert mounted in an insert seat of the tool body. The cutting insert includes an upper side and a lower side directed toward a bottom contact surface of the insert seat. The cutting insert is formed by sintering together two compacted powder parts, one of the parts forming an upper part and the other forming a lower part. An imaginary plane is defined between the lower and upper parts. A side surface extends between the upper and lower sides around the periphery of the cutting insert, and at least one cutting edge is formed in a transition between the upper side and the side surface. The tool is configured so that the tool body contacts the side surface of the cutting insert only above the imaginary plane along an upper part of the side surface.

A cutting insert includes an upper surface, a lower surface, a side surface, and an upper cutting edge. The upper cutting edge includes a major cutting edge having an outwardly projecting curvilinear shape, and a minor cutting edge having a straight line shape and being continuous with the major cutting edge. The side surface includes a continuous inclined surface with the major cutting edge and is inclined outward from the upper surface to the lower surface with respect to a virtual straight line connecting the respective centers of the upper and lower surfaces. An inclination angle of the inclined surface with respect to a virtual straight line on the side surface increases from a portion of the inclined surface which is continuous with an end portion of the major cutting edge to a portion of the inclined surface which is continuous with a center of the major cutting edge.
